Orca card doesn't work for bike surcharge on the ferries, you have to pay the extra dollar in cash. My housemate who works for Metro and was involved with Orca says to file a complaint every time this happens.

What's up with a motorcycle being the cheapest way to ride a ferry too? The cashier accidentally charged us for 2 motorcycles then said, don't worry about it, it's cheaper. Sure enough, it is cheaper to roll on to a ferry with your motorcycle than to even walk on.

Which ferry terminal were you at? I know for the Bainbridge-Seattle-Bainbridge ferry, this is not true (assuming you're an adult-aged passenger without disabilities). The motorcycles, like cars, pay both ways.

Pedestrian = $0 (eastbound) + $6.70 (westbound) = $6.70
Bicycle = $0 (eastbound) + $6.70 (westbound) + $1.00 (surcharge) = $7.70
Motorcycle = $6.25 (eastbound) + $6.25 (westbound) = $12.50
Car = $14.45 (eastbound) + $14.45 (westbound) = $28.90

Ah, all is fairly priced in ferry land. That makes sense about getting dinged twice for a round trip. We took the Fauntleroy to Southworth route over to Manchester State Park.

Does anyone use the West Seattle water taxi? Does it run on time? Does it delay do to weather often?

Starting next week I'll be on the West side.
The Taco truck at the Home Depot off Delridge is fucking great!

Nope, that is still unfair pricing since Motorcycles can drive around more easily than bicycles can bike around. Got a pending research paper to prove it.

When I lived in the WSEA and my car got smash (pre-biking era) I used the water taxi to get to work for about three months. It ran like clock work and is very bike friendly. The trick I learned is that the water taxi is a Metro device, but they contract with Argosy for the boat. Thus the three dollars exact fare and the crew can’t touch the money. The trick is that they accept ANY PugetPass card as fare. Even the .50 cards that can be had for $18.00 a month. This = unlimited rides for $18.00 bucks a month. Run with that!
