Calling all bike nerds, creative thinkers, gluttons for punishment, foodies on bikes, and whatever else.
Skillet Street Food, best known for their Airstream trailers that deliver food to neighborhoods across Seattle (and now Mariner’s games) is trying to find a way to get in on the action during Fremont’s Solstice Parade. Skillet peeps want to paint themselves silver and suspend strategically placed Skillet box(es) over their junk (dick in a box, the return) and serve food to parade goers along the route. The parade rules are clear on the “no motor vehicles” part, so they are brainstorming on ways to move the trailer along the route. CAN IT BE MOVED BY BIKE???
Questions:
- Does this sort of challenge interest you?
- Is this possible?
- Do you have ideas to contribute?
- If this happens, do you want to participate?
- Is there a better modified way to use bikes and stay true to Skillet’s idea?
- Are you totally ignoring all of this because we will be BIKE CAMPING that weekend? (my answer)
My Skillet buddy, Parker (who also does the Skillet Airstream trailer retrofitting), is the curious one who figured .83 bike types may be the answer. He's the contact. If you are interested, let me know and I’ll hook you guys up. I imagine there is lots of free poutine to get out of this and lord knows what else. I would ask for lavender pound cake with lemon curd and crème fraiche, but that’s just me.

you could probably get it rolling with enough people on bikes. but it'd be hard as hell to stop.
if they've got three weeks, they could maybe make a miniature skillet trailer by borrowing one of haulin' colin's trailers and building a structure on it out of plywood/tinfoil/paint whatever. it'd be more bicycle-scale.

That trailer has got to have brakes, most likely electric brakes. A 12V electric brake controller and a battery mounted on the trailer shouldn't be too hard to procure. Run a wire to a button a bike to simulate the brake light signal that normally triggers the controller, or just have someone sit on the front of the trailer and be in charge of this.
It's actually pretty feasible. Not getting arrested is, as usual, the hard part.

So they're only looking for boys then? Cause if not, I did it (Fremont naked bike parade) last year and had a blast... would definitely think about doing it again this year...

Skillet does have electric brakes and can stop when needed - that's covered. The question remains ... are there enough people (male, female, it's all good) that want to heave-ho and pull on their bikes?
