Scratch that. I'm taking off from Joeball Country (Green Mountain) to do a tour around the southern Olympic Peninsula. Have fun.
Offer still stands for anybody doing the PTSD (Portland to Seattle Disaster) to crash in Oly on the way up.

I'm still planning to something stupid like this. My original plans got sacked and I haven't had it in me to organize new ones.
I still have my mother's offer to caravan people down friday night. Need to find a couch at some point, and figure out a speed and ensuing timetable for coming back. Faster than slower, in any case.
I'm not terribly worried about day 1, it's getting on my bike for day 2.
Most people who can ride 30-50 miles can ride a century in a day without any additional training. But based on what I saw last year, where the fitness really shows is the ride on US Route 30 once you cross into Oregon for the last 30 miles or so. It was super hot, and if you weren't drinking water throughout Saturday, Sunday afternoon hurt. Personally, I was fine. But I did a dozen water bottles all day Saturday, drank another two liters in Centralia Saturday night, then kept up Sunday.
I'd imagine if you're planning to drink alcohol, it's worse come Sunday.

I'm in, but this PSTD thing sounds even more fun. One problem: I have friday off, but not monday, so it's better for me to end up in portland, unlike the rest of you.
I do not have a bib, either, and i didn't miss it last year.

Truth.
My new motto is to always fill up both water bottles at each and every 25 mile rest stop even if the line is long.
I'm already signed up to ride STP in two days with my dad, however I'd love to rock a bib Derrick! Sunday, July 12th is my burfay so I expect everyone who is riding to bring presents or hugs :)
Post-STP, I will be continuing over to the Oregon coast and riding down to California as far as time permits. I am looking for riding mates for this excursion, so if anyone is interested please PM. I plan on getting back to Seattle by July 26th.

so if chehalis is south of centralia, what are the logistics like for getting gear on and off the truck?
If I remember correctly you tell them where you are going when you load up your gear. I think there are 3 ?? locations they will drop gear off at.

You guys who aren't paying, shame on you. The cascade bicycle club paid good money to rent those roads from the public and now you're stealing from them.

My people are paying into your social security program and not going to get anything back, the least I can do is steal services from public organizations.
Hey, it's not Hondas.

Do I get a Si-Se-Puede-Subsidy? Because all my money is tied up in bike frames right now.

I'm in and riding it in two days.
How the hell are all you guys getting back to Seattle?!
I'm planning to stay the night in Portland on Sunday and head back sometime on Monday... anyone else doing that?

Yeah, at the STP start line (UW Stadium parking lot) you just put your bags on the truck labeled with your desired destination. By the time you ride there the truck is waiting with your bags. The packet you pick up from REI in early July explains in more detail.

I paid Cascade the extra $60 or whatever to take my bike back on their truck and coach bus me up to Seattle on Monday.

I will be either newly employed by this time, or newly unemployed.
Since the latter is more likely, I would consider jumpin on this trip a very real possibility.

Stoked!
I have an extra pass for the trip back for person and bike I will sell for what I paid for it. 60$. I also will have room to bring 1 extra bike back from Portland if some one needs a ride for their bike. The car will be full with kids and all that entails.

Is the pass to head back on Monday, if so do you know what time? Also, your offer of a car ride sounds very generous (kids are cool!) and am also curious of when you plan on driving back? I would be happy to throw down for gas money and or buy you some grub on the ride home!
Thanks : )

sean,
i can change the date of the return trip to monday if there is still room on the monday bus.
also, i can really only bring back a bike. the kids and small apartment that come with them fill up the car. i have room on the rack for 1 bike though.
let me know about the bus, i need to change the return asap.

i'm driving down and back. or at least, my car is going - i hope to avoid driving if possible. i believe the plan is to come back monday, ferrying caroline and jess. not sure who else, so let's say that i currently have two open person spots and three open bicycle spaces for the return trip.
anybody who is not riding the stp want to go to portland after work friday or early saturday morning? i'll have to ditch you in town somewhere unless you want to be my date to the wedding of a high school friend down in newberg on saturday.

I am still most definitely interested in joining in on a Car ride back on Monday versus a Bus (but thanks fatasian!), so if you still have a few spots, I would love to join your little crew of Lovely Ladies on Beautiful Bicycles! What time would you be plannig to head out on Monday... late afternoon/evening?! ; )
I think the "rust on 2 front sticks" wouldn't be a big deal. After all it does ride like a breeze.

Is there still room in your car? I'd love to get a ride back.
