OK Derrick called me out....but despite one of the .83 mantras I reserve the right to pull out at anytime and bare no responsibility for your weekend pleasure.
The written in sand plan is to go grab a quick overnighter in the dirt along the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. We've been there before, it is awesome, the woods are beautiful, it is close to Seattle and Saturday should be hot so chillin, grabbing rays, swimming, and drinking by the river sounds dandy. Bonfire at night and sleeping outside.
'Bikes' you say? well if you wanna go ahead but it is about 42 miles to the start of the MF road, then 8 more dirt miles to the AWESOME campsite. It'll take most of the day, and you will probably be on your bike during the hothot part of the day and not chillin by the river.
Map to dirt road
Also a car enhances out chance of getting one of the cooler spots and they enable us to be back in town on Sunday to be at Derricks Tennis party on Sunday (which he will kindly bump till NOON)
So chime in if you are interested and how plan to get there (ie Drive, get a ride, ride your bike)

I'm out for both this and tennis, as awesome as they sound. I'll be heading up to Ross Lake early on Sunday and don't think I could out of MF Snoqualmie in time.
Hoping to do a Suiattle repeat late August though...

i'm going to get up early and ride. departure target of 8am, hopefully getting out to the dirt by 1pm for a refreshing dip in the cold-ass river. i don't necessarily expect to make it back to derrick's by 1pm on sunday, but the ride back is downhill and goes by pretty fast.
happy to lead others but be mindful of the earliness of departure, the pace, and the fact that the ride's over half on gravel (and the last few miles are very minimally maintained).

In. Leave morning-ish(?). I've got room for 2 more bikes and people, your bikes have to fit a yakima steelhead rack, which clamps the fork dropouts with the front wheel removed. If you've got a really long front fender or certain models of disc brakes or a through axle this can be an issue.

Ahh. Now that I actually look at the map I see we're not going exactly where I thought we might be going. So in that case I'm officially on the fence, need to put my thinking cap on.

cool. thanks for the ride.
I will be bringing an excessive amount of coffee, and completely willing to share. The caveat is that I only have one 2-cup french press. So... if anyone else can bring another press or two, that would be awesome.

Uh, I'll bring my big metal pot. I'll boil water and make lots of cowboy coffee. If you bring a press you should bring a something to heat water in over the fire. To my knowledge nobody's bringing a stove to this one.
Those riding up should coordinate with those driving up. Between us, we should be able to drive your shit up so you don't have to haul it.
I'm also bringing a big griddle. Not my backpacking one, a bigger heavier duty one.

I'll drive. Three spots, four if you want to get friendly.
[edit]
Also can I borrow a sleeping bag pad from someone, possibly even a tent?

I know the Ryan Wreyford is looking for a seat. I'll just pre-emptively ask to reserve one for him.

people in the derrick-mobile. plan on meeting at my place right around 6ish? street parking is a bitch in eastlake, but if you bike to my place, can leave bikes inside locked up.

Hi I'm Liz. Can I bum a seat in your car? Some problem denied me a seat in his car. I have a tent, and I can see about finding an extra sleeping bag pad too.

Sweet, thanks for stepping up Jason.
My car is shooting for being on I-90 leaving Seattle at 8am to claim THE spot (hopefully no one snagged it Friday night, but there is decent stuff near by).
It would be cool if the 2nd wave was leaving Seattle not much later than 10 or 11 but that is your logistical obstacle.
Also there is a QFC with a Liquor Store next to it in North Bend
Here
You can just continue on this frontage route instead of I-90 to get to the MF Snoqualmie Road

Ryan Wreyford and I both have two-man tents. You can probably borrow one of the two. It will give me a good excuse to snuggle with someone.
