Laura -- Just because you can't go Friday doesn't mean you should skip the whole thing! Come up on Saturday.

And wow, 5 pages and we haven't even left yet.

11am meetup at the trailhead, rolling at 11:30 sounds good to me. I want to be up there pretty early so that I have time to explore Green Mtn a bit.

Trailhead being the end of the road?

Sounds like a plan.

UAV will leave Seattle before 9am. Since there's no need to carpool I won't bother going to the Park and Pool. If anyone wants a ride they should email me (I can't figure out why this fucking site has an 'outbox' for private messages) where I should pick them up and I'll let them know when to be on the street corner.

Currently it's Me, Monica, and Greg Tellvik provided he gets my PM. Plenty more room.

FYI
I am driving Mike, Diane, T-Ball, and myself to the end of the road on Saturday morning. Our rig is full and we are leaving Ballard at probably 8:15 in the morning.

Tentative plan is to ride the 6.5 miles to camp set up and then possibly ride back 2 miles unloaded to Green Mountain road, ride up 6miles/1000' Then hike the green mountain trail and get in some views.

I would eat fiesta but don't have the energy to count people, subtract vegans, scale for derrick's appetite, and throw in one for the pot.

Basic recipe in the past has been Rice-a-roni Spanish rice, canned tomatoes, canned pinto beans, frozen/canned corn. Add canned chicken if desired, Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, and eat in a tortilla.

We have also done tacos with ground beef and beans cooked in the pot and toppings all cold.

Yo JoeBall, this sounds like a good plan, I'm down for a nice hike!
Green Mountain sounds pretty dang beautiful, it is featured in my book: 100 Classic Hikes in Washington (8 miles and elevation gain of 3100 feet, neat). I've been wanting to do this hike but have heard that a road wash-out makes the trailhead un-reachable... but do you know if we are able to get there with our bikes?

I'll be up there Friday night so your plan of going to our camp first Saturday and then riding to the trailhead will allow some of us who got there early to join. What time can you estimate getting to the campsite?

It looks to be awesome up there: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimbrown/sets/72157620605065695/

See you out in Suiattle!

Sean we'll probably show up to camp around noon. I really wish I could be headed out there Friday night but alas. Anyway the trip report that goes with the flickr set you found describes the old lower trail up to green mountain. It goes 2 miles up and reaches a point that would take 8 miles to bike to (2 miles back up the road and then 6 miles up to the new GM trail head).

Seems possible that the 2 mile hike would be faster if the route was visible enough. If you are game for it and get a good look at the pictures in the flickr set ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimbrown/3754360286/in/set-72157620605065695/) then you could scout that in the morning and maybe flag off the hard to see spots and then we could all head up that route around noon or 1.

Sulphur Mountain is pretty rad too.

5 miles and 4200' each way, starts from the end of the road. Excellent views, and some alpine lakes if you want to descend ~800' down the backside.

We tried heading up Sulphur Creek trail to look for the hot springs, but it was wicked overgrown and we lost the trail after ~2 miles.

Sorry Scott, cutting it close now and have decided to limit myself to me and Chris at this late hour (leaving in 2hrs). Getting out of town is getting kludgy and I'm ready to get the fuck outta dodge. Sorry man.

Hit up BTM. I'm told the UAV has unlimited capacity.

The UAV will be at the 65th Street P&P at 8:15am, departing 8:45am. I'll email those of you I have contact for about this.

Confirmed:

Me
Monica
Scott/tictoc
Peter Meilstrup
Greg Tellvik

Possible:
2 people who came up to me at CM
2 friends of Sweetbike Scott

---
If all the possibles came, we'd be full. We'll see though, it's a late hour.

In other news: Holy shit, 180 replies? Could someone summarize this shit for me? I don't care about your cars, just:

a) When are we meeting at the trailhead?
b) Where is the trailhead?
c) Is there a pre-drive seattle meetup point and time?

Yeah, same road, cross the long bridge over the Suak river then turn right off the hwy (stay straight as the hwy turns left). Road is paved for about 6 miles then turns to gravel for about 6 more miles. When you see a bunch of cars parked you are at the end.

There is a bypass trail around that washout for about the 1st 1/4-1/2 mile. Then you get back to the old gravel road which is in great shape. ~8.5 mile ride to the camp ground. Once you get to the wooden ramp that accesses the concrete bridge you are 100ft from the campsite.

No, I mean Suiattle River Road, aka NF-26. Just drive to the washout and park.

Suiattle Mountain Road fork is after the washout, so if you pretend you are going to Suiattle Mountain Road that will work too.

Yup, that was a great time. Thanks for coming everyone!

Scott -- besides the stings the Sulphur Creek site did beat Downey Creek. Thanks for clearing up the trees to make the way out easier.

Jimmy, Margaret, and Matt rock for riding out the whole way.

I lost one of these in camp or by the river, let me know if you found it.

Hey yeah! That was great! Thanks guys for clearing the road. I worked on the big triple one on Saturday but gave up on that last big log after it collapsed. I wondered who finished it.

lost:
1 titanium spork
1 pair of bicycle gloves
