I am definitely down for this (starting saturday). I may even be paid before then and able to buy a knobbier set of tires so I don't make a total fool of myself (on the bike, that is...). Do we need to start making a headcount & seatcount or what?

Using the fine words of Rogelio, I am a definitely "thinking about this" early Friday ride up and definitely think I can get out of work around 11:00 or 12:00 from, would that work? If not, I'm most definitely up for carpooling later in the evening on Friday.

Cleared with work, I'm in.

I'm tied to the Greenlake Race at midnight on Friday (unless someone wants to run it for me), so the plan pour moi is to roll out Saturday morning.

If I'm hauling ladies, I'm totally finally installing water bottle cages on that bike.

Two; three if I get a basket, but at that point Jeni might start getting jealous if she's not included.

Please see below for possible configuration details:

Yeah, two is fine, but if you put a third lady in your basket i might have to tip the whole lot of you over. Into the river.

Coincidentally, i'm also interested in coming on this trip, but not sure yet whether friday or saturday.

Hai guise,

I will not be able to make this trip: I will be in Idaho camping and boating with my family (my sister has been out of the country for 18 months, and needing to drink with you assholes isn't a good enough excuse to get out of this).

But, I figured that as long as you all are accommodating people, maybe you could:

1) Come to Idaho instead. We are nice people, with good senses of humor (as our last name suggests). Also, there will be plenty of food, and we have a motorboat.

2) Cancel the trip entirely, so I don't have to feel bad about missing it.

Either option would satisfy me completely. Let me know.

option 3) Derrick still has room for a +1 and would be happy to drive your sister up into the woods.

I think I’m gonna try to add on a trip to Monte Cristo on the way back from Suiattle .... anyone wanna join?

buncha different options .... I’m up for any of these:

1) drive home via Mtn Loop highway, park at Monte Cristo trailhead, ride the four miles up the Monte Cristo road to the old townsite, just for a quick day trip ... still get home Sunday, but later than everyone else.

2) same as the above, but camp Sunday night at Monte Cristo; leave fairly early in morning and get back Monday, early afternoon.

3) on Sunday morning, after getting back to Suiattle trailhead, drive from there to Darrington; ride from Darrington to Monte Cristo; camp; (makes for about 35 miles total for the day ... not too too bad, even with a hangover). Then on Monday, ride back to Darrington and get back to Seattle late afternoon or early evening.

4) same as option 3, but then on Monday, ride the ~80 miles from Monte Cristo to Seattle! (obviously, requires catching a ride with someone else on Saturday morning ... don’t feel like riding bikes both directions.)

I dunno. I suppose I’d be up for doing a Friday version of any of the above, if someone wanted to ... but would rather do it after Suiattle.

I would be interested in option 1. Or anything else that gets me home by Sunday night, I work monday. I would also be hitching a ride with ya.

I'm in for option 1. Right now I'm planning on riding up from Seattle early-o-clock Sat. morning, so if I could reserve a spot in your car for the way back that'd be great. I need to be home Sunday night at some point. The old town site sounds cool, I'm definitely in for that.

If anyone is interested in riding up there, and wants some company for part of the way, I'm going to be riding to outside of Arlington on Friday, leaving probably around 11:00 in the morning, or so. What I plan to do is take the 522 bus from downtown to near Woodinville, and then ride up 12 (or is it 9) to Snohomish, catch the Centennial Trail to Arlington.
PM me if you're interested.

man, this sounds fun, but sadly can't go until saturday.

riding to snohomish on 9 may be flatter, but in my opinion it's way less fun than going through maltby.

you may (rightly) hate me on the hills, but you'll thank me when you're riding through pleasant farmland and watching the freeway-esque traffic on the other side of the valley.

one note of caution: watch out for the right turn onto springhetti road. it sneaks up on you.

Hey Navigator, what do you think about riding the Interurban North from Greenwood, then heading East to the Centennial trail? It looks like I could go to the end of the Interurban, then take a bike path under hwy 2, then continue east on 20th st. until I hit the Centennial Trail.

Or, I could leave the Interurban around Silver lake area and go East to the Centennial trail from there.

Or, I guess I could just take the Burke up through Woodinville somehow and take your recommended Maltby route.

Unless you have ridden it before, don't take the Interurban Trail north from Shoreline if you don't have a lot of time to (a) get lost (b) curse crappy Lynwood drivers and city planners (c) get lost again.

The route to Snohomish via Maltby is a great one; I've only ever taken it in the other direction, but basically, get off the Sammamish River Trail just before Wilmot Gateway Park (the one you ride through in a semi-circle), ride east through downtown Woodinville, which turns into the climb up Woodinville-Duvall road, and just follow Lee's route from there. (Also, watch the section after you cross 522 so you end up on Broadway. Once you get going on Broadway, it's hard to miss Snohomish).

The route I usually take to Snohomish is to the west, ending with a descent on Seattle Hill road. It has a lot more turns and is easier to get lost trying to follow, so take Lee's route if you don't have a guide who's been there before.

Note: if I were going from the Interurban to Snohomish, I'd head east at 52nd SE (almost at the end of the trail in south Everett) drop down to Lowell and take the Lowell-Snohomish River Road. A fun, flat ride.

Is there any reason to meet up at the 65th and I5 P&R anymore, or are we all figuring out car groups on here?

I'm still not sure what day we are driving up, but we'll have room for one or maybe two people and their bikes.

Agree'd, the 65th Park and Ride maybe redundent with the exception if there are any drivers that do not know exactly where to go and need to follow someone.

Drivers at this point seem to be

Scott: Fri Midday + Laura R. + Sean (Full)
Derrick: Fri Eve +?
Alex: Sat Morn room for 1 or 2
Andre: Sat Morn (Ful_l
Lee?: Sat Morn +Caroline +?
Ben: Sat Morn +?

as I told tictoc in a PM ... kinda leaning towards doing one of the camp-at-MonteCristo options if anyone wants to (or might just do it regardless) ... will decide in a couple of days.

as far as group gear I'm bringing to Suiattle:
* stove
* French press + coffee
* water filter
* tarp (if there's much chance of rain in forecast)
* chicken and zucchini to grill

Doesn't one of you have one of those grills with the folding legs ... Scott maybe? Bringing it? If not, I could bring the grill from my BBQ, which is 10” x 20”, and prop it up on rocks.
