So did Derrick:
Please note:Please note, Derrick at some mushrooms in the forest, making him much larger and ferocious. That is a full grown salmon he caught with his bare hands.

I saw that knife this morning at the picnic table. New Scott said it might have been his? Maybe there are two Kershaw knives here at camp?
Yeah, Scott, the Kershaw knife you found was mine. I didnt see another one around.
Anyone else get the shit bitin out of them? I got aprox. 200 bites on legs and arms. Probably when I passed out. Not in a tent. Not in my bag. With shortsleeves and shorts on. Oh the humanity!

bug bites -- lots. the stingy ones now feel like itchy ones. Most were actually in the morning, there were tiny little gnats near the fire that didn't seem to care about DEET (first time I've tried it in about 4 years) and left an itchier bite for me than what mosquitos offer up.

Laura said something about packing it up, but I think you might have left it in your panniers because I didn't see it at the campsite; check the bottom of thems panniers.
I've got Schkott's memory card and camera battery (the camera being somewhere in the river).

Hey yeah! That was great! Thanks guys for clearing the road. I worked on the big triple one on Saturday but gave up on that last big log after it collapsed. I wondered who finished it.

Yeah, thanks to all who helped clear the trail, it was way easier riding out last night. I still don't know why all you guys left so early, it was a great day! Those few who did stay behind joined in on an awesome nature walk up the other trail, out passed the damn hidden hot springs... enjoyed the woods all the way until late evening and got back to the car right when it got dark : )
And I'm the one looking for that little black spork!

Hey Denny, found your windbreaker and brought it back. Thanks again for the recommendation to do Sulphur Mountain, that was freaking amazing (photos still on my camera, I'll try and get some up later this week).
Also, I think TV's Rainn Wilson has some other left over items, including knives and gas canisters, what fun!

Wait, so you found the hot springs? How was it?

I think I left behind my salt shaker. If someone picked it up it'd be handy to have it back; it's my only one, and I'm already sick of salting my food by the fistful.

Treat salt like a friendly bottom instead of like a bunch of dollars: pinch it. Fisting should be reserved for unfriendly facial impact or horseplay; horseplay should be reserved for eastern Washington.

Nope, I think we hiked right on up passed them... too damn hidden and hard to find. Enjoyed the amazing Sulphur Creek (read River) playing around in it and hoping rocks across it while eating granola : )

Word on the trail is that BTM's rear wheel blew up, lodging shrapnel across surrounding flora and embedding shards of aluminum into other pointy3ers as they neared the ramp bridge. After a few leaps in the bushes and administering first aid, retrieving each aluminum shard from field and flesh, BTM extruded a new raw rim with just his clenched fist and the pressure of his much callused thumb. Extruded aluminium in hand and knee propped against a rock yielded a near perfect loop which was promptly laced, with spokes shaved from sturdiest pine, to the Xtracycle's rear hub. I arrived on the scene about the time that the re-crafted wheel had already been mounted and was being trued against a pair of v-brakes.
So I heard and partly witnessed.

Yay, lotsa bikes!
It's funny that seven people take up so much more space than seven bikes.

I have your salt shaker but the ground by the campsite has the salt. The tape came undone and I had no desire to let grains of salt consume my pannier. I suppose I can bring it on Thursday ride if I go. If not, maybe a hand-off.

Excellent. The shaker will suffice. I have plenty of salt at home. I'm a salty girl.

When I die, just throw me in the fucker. All my stuff will be down there, waiting for me.
All in all this trip was a net loss.

Hey do we have a headcount - how many people actually showed up? Turn out for this was really good.
And did anyone else notice the Subaru with Colorado plates on the way out - the one that obviously lost control and slammed straight into that rock? We stopped and looked around but didn't find anyone. Tough hit, no doubt. There was a bike in the back seat still so assumed whomever it was got a ride out of there. But man.

Airbag was deployed on that Subaru too. I think our car was the first one out on Sunday (except for Miles who left pretty early) so it wasn't a point83er.
Jimmy -- You left your green frame pump in our car, email me and we can figure out how to get it back to you.
No idea on head count, it seemed like people kept arriving and arriving. 35-40ish?
Andre did some cleanup on downed trees as we were passing through on the way out.

A drunken Jeni counted at least forty before her memory got fuzzy.

Sure did. We left early and walked wherever the road was soft and likely to cause lateral load. With such nice weather and good conversation with Liz, we were back to the cars before I knew it and I had a great time despite the poser wheel.

Christine actually, who had an amazing time and actually enjoyed all you asshole's company. Riding the ~10 miles to a campground that I wasn't sure existed and then being greeted by cheers, cigarettes, gin, vodka, whiskey, and that red shit scott had in a bottle was a pretty awesome experience. And I only got 2 flats! I want summer to come back.
Also: I have someones MSR fuel bottle

Put up some photos from the Sulphur Mountain hike, wish we could have gotten some more people motivated to see these views! More pics up soon including Saturday nights bonfire and Sunday's Sulphur Creek hike:

denny: i think i have your knife, only it has a black handle and says kershaw on the blade.
also found: jumbo playing cards, a metal spoon, and plastic bottle of soap.
i loved seeing all you kids this weekend. the ride home monday was a bit of a failure. my rear tire did not like the gravel trail and, in rebellion, it formed a pimple about 10 miles out from suiattle river road. i applied a cliff bar wrapper boot and it did ok. 10 miles later got 3 more pimples. made 3 more boots. didn't really do the trick, so i took the train home from mt. vernon.
still worth it to see all your shining faces, and the hike up sulphur creek on sunday (with the few kids who stuck around) was not to be missed.
thank you scott for making this happen.

Found: black Pearl Izumi gloves. No tags, seem like men's size large. I guess I thought they were mine when we were leaving and stuffed them into my bag.
I might be on the Thursday ride, or can meet whoevers they are somewhere else.

@Margaret - happy to lend a hand, but this was Alex's show this time around. Or hell, it's all of us. I'm the one who made you cross logs is all. Sucks to hear about your ride out though.
Guess I know who got my gloves! Will snag them from you when I see you next. Thanks Alex.
NOW - titanium spork anyone?

Also sorry to hear about the tire issues.
It was all of us, or at least Scott, Andre, and I trying to pick a weekend on IM. I just happened to post the thread. Scott picked the site. Andre kept momentum up. And of course the ride wouldn't have been so fun without all 43 people showing up.
I spent an hour last night trying to find other abandoned logging roads to explore. It does look like the forest service has $650k earmarked to fix the Suiattle River Road. Hopefully they drag their feet and we get a few more visits in next summer.
