It always feels faster and all of a sudden I am at home but I sometimes wonder if it is just because I remember less of the ride.

I think it's because of that magical place in alcoholic biking where you don't mind pounding quickly up hills because you can't really feel the hill. Reaching that point is my goal each time we end up at Carkeek.

first, i just want to say that i really enjoy reading your blog.
second, i agree that the inclusion of better gambling would make the event much more exciting. the crowd participation (and having people screaming in my ear) is really what made it fun to race. i have to say, though, improved gambling plus the inclusion of little cyclists to measure progress would be eerily reminiscent of the mob scene in triplets of belleville. just sayin'.
