Last night in front of the Stumbling Monk a front wheel was stolen off our friend Chris' track bike.
Info:
White H Plus Son rim, unmachined braking surface
White Phil Wood Hub with red lettering
Red Spokes.
I saw the kids that jacked the wheel riding up olive and chased on foot for a while. Two black males on track bikes with riser bars. Other interesting tidbits. The dude that actually put the wheel on his bike is named Moe, The other kid he was with is named dan, and at least one of the kids lives in the middle

Well since I live on hipster fixe fashion accessory fucking hill. This may actually be easy to find. If I see it I'll let ya know, lock up there bike with my big U lock and get a hold of the police, purely for the entertainment of it. O yea, LOCK UP THE FRONT FUCKING WHEEL NEXT TIME!

I can't believe you saw them in Cal Anderson just as I pulled by! You should post their photos so people know who to look for. And make sure the owner of the wheel files a police report so some legal action can be taken...

(I talked to these guys last week... the Wreyford sisters know the full crazy story.)

Stolen from bike rack on Eastlake Ave in Eastlake, this morning between 5:30-6am

- Front wheel: Black, velocity deep-v rim, machined
- White SOMA saddle
- Deda handlebars (super drop, track style) with white bar tape

Not my stuff, but belongs to a friend in Eastlake. Frame & rear wheel were left behind.

Just adding it to the list of jacked items out there.

I find it rather interesting everything getting jacked is either black or white. nThe creeps that stole chris' wheel were spotted last night walking around Cap Hill.

Apparently I got this wrong.

- they stole the REAR wheel
- saddle & seatpost
- detached the emergency front break @ the break lever, stole stem + bars

What is weird is that with the stem & bars gone, the fork & front wheel would have slide out of the frame and yet they left that. Strange.

Most expensive thing on the bike were the pedals and they were also left.

So I was in the U District riding in a car, and spotted two guy's that match the alleged thieves descriptions. I was ready to pull out the ol' Louisville slugger and proceed to issue a beat down, simply based on the fact that I remember the stolen wheels were white deep V's. Glad I didn't jump the gun... Instead, I grabbed the camera and snapped some pictures of these guy's, but am hesitant to post for many reasons.

Only one bike had risers with a white or silver deep V front wheel, but it looks like it's a 650. Both bikes had rear deep V's, one being white and the other was baby blue/ teal-ish.

If you guy's want me to post the pictures, I will, let me know!

So how does this work? Ride around with a shitty front wheel (notice the reflector on front wheel of guy carrying bike) and then toss it when you steal a nice new front? Otherwise you gotta roll away with a giant stolen wheel on your backpack.

Seems like we have a good photo collection to make a case with the cops to pick these guys up and get a warrant to search their apartment

Today I talked with a dude on the Ave about his recently stolen bike. (As a result he was riding the most beater of cruiser bikes with the front tire spray painted neon orange - craaaaazy.)

Redline (black frame), one of those smaller front wheels that all you cool kids have, he built it up, expensive parts, that's all I remember. He'll be at Critical Mass trying to spread the word. (he's a smaller, thin dude with glasses). I didn't catch his name or other info as we were both riding and he turned on Campus Parkway and I didn't.

The bike was stolen from Jack in the Box and the thief, a black dude, was caught on camera stealing the bike in question. Who knows if it's connected to the Cap Hill thefts, just putting it out there.
