Sean Sweeney's birthday is Tuesday, and the last time we talked, he said he'd be willing to bike all the way to Green Lake and show us some tricks on the BMX park/skatepark. Except they aren't lit after dark, so we have to bring our own lights so he can see where the damn landing spots are.
Other daredevils can show off, too, of course.
I'm bringing my super bright lights; everyone else do the same. If Sean doesn't show up we can find somewhere to put them to good use (Discovery Park, say).

Waterfront BMX tricks in the dark, while drinking. I approve of this idea.

Gee thanks for thinking of me guys, I'd love to go for a ride on my Birthday!
However, I would also love to not crash on my face on my birthday, so let's make sure we make it to the bike jumps early in the ride when we are "more" sober, I'll try to play around in the dark and would rather watch others jump around on my bike as well if they'd like to try it out, should be fun. (Jessica, do you want to ride your new Mosh BMX?)
Then we can move on to another location for further partying... Discovery Park could be cool, maybe out by the cliff edge? Should be a rain free day tomorrow, so that rocks!
Let's pre-funk at Schultzy's, I dig their Ragin' Cajun and yummy IPA selections.

I just scored us a little birthday surprise near the U-Village 'round-bouts 8:30.
Itinerary:
Prefunk: Shultzy's for IPA's and sausages @ 6pm
Meetup at Red Square as per usual @ 7pm
Greenlake sport fields for kickball.
U-Village-esque to loosen up a little with a Rogelio-special.
Grab the Burke-Gilman and drunkenly book-it to pre-discovery QFC for supplies.
Discovery Park where we can don little hats and run into the woods.
Maybe a little Boxcar on the way back?
Special note: Greg is not allowed to take us north to Shoreline.
Oh, yeah: Bring lights.

So, I'm sad to say that I rode by the jumps at Greenlake today and they were pretty damn dark and unsafe to ride in the dark, even with a bunch of head lamps I still think I'd be too sketched out... but it was a good idea Greg!
If it were summer, we could absolutely make it up there after the group meets at 7:30, but it just gets dark too damn early these days. Let's hold on to the Greenlake Jumpin' ride until next year when the days start to get longer again.
I am however still down to ride a Somewhere-Uvillage-Burke-Discovery-Boxcar route, thanks Rogelio, and thank you so much for coming up with whatever this birthday special is...?! I'm curiously excited : )

Trying to think of a way to get to Shoreline and back to U Village before 8:30, but not succeeding.

It's a box of Altoids at the Ram. Mint beer growlers! But seriously, don't get too excited, it's technically an upgraded bar stop.
Well there goes my easy way to kill an hour, though.
OKAY!
Revise: Still going to Greenlake
Itinerary:
Prefunk: Shultzy's for IPA's and sausages @ 6pm
Meetup at Red Square as per usual @ 7pm
Greenlake sports field: Kickball game while drinking because it's fun to run around chasing each other while holding a beer. (I've got a ball.)
U-Village-esque to loosen up a little with a Rogelio-special.

I know of a lot of good ultimate fields in Shoreline.

Filthy lies, you'd just take us out to some "lookout" behind the community college. It undoubtedly has "great singletrack" and "good ultimate fields" that we can check out and plenty of pumpkin beer for all.

Kickball at Greenlake would be really fun if we have enough people
(who else is joining in on this ride aside from Greg, Rogelio, Gretchen and I?).
Frisbee is sweet too, but it's been a while since I've kicked some balls...

I'll be running a little late getting to Shultzy's as I left the kickball at home, along with my keys. I've got to wait until Denny gets home at six, but I'll book it right on over and get myself an IPA once I grab my gear.

Shoreline actually has a plethora of good ultimate fields. I think I've played the majority of my games at a complex off of 175th. I cannot attest to the singletrack and pumpkin beer, therefore I could not support any notion to ride up there tonight, especially considering that we already have a stellar itinerary that has the birthday boy's stamp of approval. I'm just sayin' that Mr. Barnes speaks the truth on this matter.

Hella fun, count me in.
Also, sometimes the soccer field lights come on, and the dirtjumps are well-lit.

I have a kick ball (two actually, but one is kinda small) that I can bring, but I need a needle to plug into a pump to add some air to it... anyone have one they can bring? Also Ro, looks like Denny is coming so you don't need to go home to get your keys?!

I've got a needle and a deflated ball I'll bring, you bring your balls, and we'll have a ball playing kickball.

I live 1.2 miles flat from work; I'll just swing home since Denny is going home too and grab my keys.
Advantages:
a) I don't have to go home when Denny goes home since I don't have to work tomorrow.
b) I can lock my bike.
c) I left some tea steeping and I want to check on it.
d) I can put on my spats.

My hipster pants smell pleasantly of Phil Wood grease and dirt.
Also: needle and ball are in my bag.

That was a super-fun night, I to give it some A++++'s! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out last night!
Schultzy's was damn yummy and even a little packed with all of us in there (and thanks Rogelio for gettin' my tab, you are indeed a kind gentleman).
Kickball will need to be attempted again under some better lighting conditions, but we did well with what we had, I'm excited to play again soon.
Sorry to those who actually thought we were going to ride further and make it out to Discovery Park (maybe only me?), but I couldn't have been happier that it got cut short by an awesome surprise birthday party (thanks Gretchen, you are truly amazing!), so many good people and such a good time : ) I had way to much to drink and that was totally okay. Cheers

All that deceit left me with a hankering for the Boxcar or at least some Bush Garden.

As far as I know, only Gretch, Rogelio and I knew about the surprise. Also, I told someone who was thinking of bailing early that we weren't really going to Discovery Park. But I figured the fewer people knew, the less likelihood of the secret getting out.
More interesting were our attempts to steer the ride away from the Northeast, so that we would be forced to ride by Sean's house 'on the way to UVillage'.
We should totally do kickball for reals sometimes, when we're willing to actually go to a lit spot instead of forcing everyone to stay near a dark Green Lake so that we can set up a birthday surprise.
