I drove in today and IT WAS AWESOME.
Although as I paralleled the B-G through Fremont and past UVillage I kept seeing the same guy riding his bike the whole way. He managed to catch up and pass me as I sat in traffic along the way. When the apocalypse hits bikes will be the only way to get around.

all i could think about on my drive in this morning was where i could get a hand pump, a tank, hose, and gas can.. and where i could ride my bike around at night in order to pilfer gasoline

I waxed nostalgic for my old, uncomfortable helmet with the great visor.

I was bundled to the max, but without water resistant pants I'm a soggy little bitch. Sick too, along with my entire work group. Ugh.

I need to get a waterproof bag.. and pants. I have my kinda waterproof jacket shell.. it with the arm warmers of Justin's that I still have (sorry Justin! I'll try to get them back to you asap!!), a tshirt and these gloves Ijust bought, I was toasty and dry from the top up..
then comes the bottom. I have no water pants, so I use this old pair of jeans I had cut off mid calf and knee high socks. Needless to say, the pants were SOAKED, as were my feet and everything else from the waist down.. I put dry clothes in a trashbag and stuffed them in my backpack so that I would have something to change into when I got to work.
The ride over really was a lot of fun, minus the cold and wet part. If I could get some waterproof pants and socks, I would love riding in the rain!
The best part;
I was on the Ballard bridge splashing along (the entire sidewalk is like a mud puddle) and a bus came up behind me HUGGING the curb that keeps cars from running over the peds and totally splashed me.. then I saw him swing wide to avoid splashing a guy walking a few yards ahead of me.. he was totally out to get me! The guy walking was a jerk too, he was walking the wrong direction and had the nerve to give me a dirty look when he had to scoot over so I could get by.

I've been thinking about cruising second hand shops for cheap, old rain jackets that I can cut up and use to enhnace some army surplus pants for those especially rainy rides.
