My birthday is this weekend, and for fun I'm going riding over at Banner Forest on Sunday. The plan is to take the 10:10 ferry over, ride for a couple of hours, eat lunch in the parking area, ride some more, and head home.
We'll bring our small charcoal grill, feel free to bring grillables and drinks and munchies. This isn't too organized, just a fun day of riding in the woods with friends. Right now it's only me and Emily (the missus).
Sorry to encroach Bike Sabbath, this is the only day that really works for me.

Strong maybe. I haven't been on the MTB in a long time.
Is Banner Forest a drive to place or a bike to place?

combination drive-to and bike-to place. 3 miles from the southworth ferry. i've done it on my pugsley at low psi.

This sounds fun. If I go I will probably bring my trailer, with fun stuff inside. Lock it up at the trail head and get mudddy.

We'll be driving on to the ferry, so we can carry the grill and foodstuffs and leave things locked in the car. Like Lee said, from the ferry it's a 3 mile ride if you want to ride on. I've potentially got room for more people/bikes, or at least can carry someone's gear in the car.
Banner has some great "girlfriend riding", as my wife calls it. Anything gnarly has a go-around, and most of it is pretty buff with no rocks and not too many roots. It's fun twisty riding-in-the-woods. Much of it is pretty well-draining, but there are a few massive mud pits (also with walk or ride-arounds). I've ridden my cyclocross bike there and had a blast, so you don't need a "true" mtb.

Giggle.
I have to work on Sunday, but I'll try to keep in the spirit of the event when I get out of work.

I'll be biking/jogging in an adventure race in West Seattle on Sunday, starting at 9am. I figure there's about at 25% chance we take the ferry, and roughly a 95% chance we go to Lincoln Park. I'll say hi if I see a ragtag group of bikers near the ferry dock.

I'm up to about 75% going. I can carry one other person from Ravenna/Greenlake area if they don't mind stopping with me to pick up a Big Dummy on my way home.

As you can tell from my maniacal cackling, that was the funniest thing that ever happened.

Yo Alex
I'm going to be at the W. Seattle Ferry dock for the 10:10 Ferry. I'm on my bike and Jimmy may be full so I could use a lift if you are empty. (It is only 3 miles and with the bike headstart off the ferry, it may not be worth it) but we'll see ya there

I might be in on this as well, never ridden out there and I want to get some more time in on my MTB.
Picked up cider, vodka, egg nog, kahlua, rum, irish cream today. We'll stay warm one way or another.

I'm gonna come along too, assuming we have half-way decent weather in the morning. Only been to Banner a few times but liked it a damn lot.
FWIW... Wunderground is currently saying 90% chance of precip for Seattle but only 70% for Southworth.

yeah actually fuck this, i'm out.... it's been pouring all goddamn night, so regardless of what the skies hold in the morning, it's gonna be a total slop-fest out there tomorrow. there's muddy... and then there's muddy.
hope we can do this some other time soon tho.

Too rainy, I'm out.
Weather forecast is only 20% rain during the actual ride time...but Ethan is probably right about how sloppy it'll be.
I hope you keep organizing the MTB rides though Jimmy, I want to come on one soon.

There are a few of us still going, the riding is in the trees, so it'll be muddy, but not raining on us like it would feel in the open streets.
Scott, I'll call you still when we get to the ferry. We'll have room for your gear, but no room for you unfortunately.
