Haul out your Santa costumes and other seasonal attire and come drink all day in public. There are always hundreds of Santas, we sing carols, give little presents, read Christmas fables aloud and generally recreate the ancient festivals of Saturnalia. Bring your bike, you never know when a naughty elf will want handlebar rides. This year hopefully it won't blizzard on us while we're out spreading the spirit.

Derrick, you need another costume , mix it up a little. and yes, the snow was the best part of last year. Some kind couple even pulled over and gave me a ride home as I was drunkly trying to bike through foot-deep drifts back to WSEA. Then I threw up in their car. Good times.

That reminds me - purchase studded tires now before UPS gets snowed in.

Forget it. I bought chains for my car, so it's not going to snow for at least 5 years, I figure.

This is the cheapest I've seen the Hakkapelitta carbide studded. At $52.99 a wheel though, you're hoping it snows pretty well.

Also, in a bit of bicycle-judo, I've found the best tyres for racing in the snow and ice are a narrow, shallow file tread. It's crazy cognitive dissonance because most people think studs=traction.

Can't you put 700c tires on a 29" wheel? I thought they were the same.

It is, but if I wanted thin tires I'd have gotten a cyclocross bike. (it's next up, lol)

Need a santa costume, ladies? Daiso in Westlake Mall has six variations of female santa costumes, here's four of them (upper left that got cut off is chinese santa)

Prices range from $3 - $9.

Sorry guys, some douche came in the other day and bought up all the mens costumes. There's one in the window display but that's it. There are few kid ones too.

wait so they come out to $5.50 with that package? Am I reading that right? I knew that store was cheap, but damn. I need an outfit still, anyone want to do an absurdly low-priced group buy?

Sure. Come on, kids--we need eight more takers.

You guys are doing this ... er ... not right. Buy the fucking 10 pack, then sell the ones you don't use for $15 each the day of when people are like "ZOMG NO SANTA, CRY!"

No, this is for the ten-pack of man suits. They're on the internet. I'm lazy.

Also, I'm not confident I would fit into a costume made for Japenese girls.

That was my plan for any left over..? Anyway, there's still 6-7 left to be claimed! Guess I'll place that order online...... now.

Update! So the break in shipping prices is $11 for UPS Ground or $43 for 2nd day air. I don't know if I trust UPS Ground to get here in time (they likely wouldn't ship until Monday) but I don't want to invest $100 total in santa suits only to be left holding half of them. I'm going to wait until Monday so more people can have an offer to jump on this bandwagon. If I've got 6 or more willing at $10 a pop, I'll order them Monday - deal? I'll even bring them straight to Santarchy - such service!

There is another Daiso right next to Uwajimya in china town. There were 4 men's Santa suits there for $5, my wife and I could probably share one suit, they are pretty big. We bought 2 so in theory there are 2 left. GO!

Ok, I'm going downtown this evening just for this unless someone else can check out if there's still enough. If there are a bunch, I'll call off the online order so that this way it's cheaper and you have some say in sizing. Huzzah.

They all come in XL, there were no size options unless you consider Men's, Women's, Boy's and Girl's to be sizes. Of course the styles varied then too.

Santa is fat, and they make sure if you don't have natural stuffing they is room to add a few pillows.

$5 is a deal but these are pretty much disposable, the felt fabric was coming apart in my fingers.

I actually bought one this weekend that fits me pretty well. Well, I bought two, and will wear both. But there's one that will fit you for $4--it's way short, so be prepared to wear heavy tights or leggings. But yeah, you and I must be close enough to the same size that if it fits me, it's a safe bet for you. Get the ones for people 150-170cm.

Picked one up... they're cheesy/disposable as fuck, but hey, for 5 bucks you cant go wrong. Will probably supplement it with a better Santa hat and beard from some other store.

Now I'm just hoping this mild cold I've got stays mild enough to actually do this.. :-P
