It turns out most people don't like riding bikes when its cold out. Also, it's going to be cold all week. Sounds like a good excuse to ride.

My friends have a karaoke thing going on now in Georgetown with vegan cake + drink specials on Tuesdays.

Red Square - Start
Cafe Met - Warm up, drink
Squid And Ink - Karaoke, drink
Orient Express or Bush Gardens - More warmth + Karaoke?

4square says you moved in at the Squid & Ink. What, are you an investor or something? Can't cook?

It's a block from my house and I get a bulk discount on dinner. I've found this much easier than trying to get along with a girl long enough that she'll cook for me.

Have you tried buying her a snazzy blender or a pretty apron?

In college 4 or 5 guys pitched in for a set of electric hair clippers for one of our female friends. She gave us hair cuts every few weeks.

That is probably better than my approach of just not cutting my hair while I was in college.

You guys would not last in the hipster wilds. Cutting one's own hair and having it look good is equivalent to your ability to start a fire and being able to maintain it as a heat source/cooking area; it's one of them life skills.

After four years of living in the city, I've managed to rise to the level of giving myself haircuts that look like a "mangy dog... a cute mangy dog" per Bike Sabbath yesterday. I'll keep practicing.

Those deals only run for an hour also.

Though "how many .20 cheeseburgers can I eat in an hour" sounds like a moderately fun game.

it's a shame how far the classical education has fallen - is latin no longer among the topics required for those aspiring to the title of doctor?

doh. When I read, I usually just scan and ignore anything that isn't a number, greek letter, or the word 'burger'. And it usually works.

Now that Lee is rolling in the dough, he has forgotten his working-class grad-school-income roots.

Nevertheless, I agree. I just wanted to inform the unwashed masses. Excuse me while I go smoke a cigar lit by a rolled-up $100 bill.

I just made soup with gold bullion. It was gross. There needs to be a required "how to deal with your newfound wealth" class in college.

On a similar theme, but for the Thursday ride: http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/voracious/2009/11/too_broke_to_eat_out_not_a_pro.php

This is different, because a) it's advertised by the Weekly, and nobody reads the Weekly. b) it's at Endolyne Joe's, and no one lives in West Seattle.

I've been taking notes from MTV's "Cribs" and "Pimp my Ride" for the last 7 years. I have no shortage of ideas concerning my inevitable wealth.

Yeah, I heard they're only running that deal for an hour, though.

I have no dog in this hunt other than to point out that insider knowledge tells me the Weekly is outselling the Stranger for print and online ads right now.

Which tells me: Somebody, if only advertisers, is reading the Weekly.

The Weekly has 4x the sales staff, hence the proportionate volume of advertisers. They also distribute beyond Capital Hill/ UDist and can sell nationwide advertisers to their 18 other sister-papers. Been there, sold that.

Ergo, Jeff agrees with me that no one lives in West Seattle.
