Come party like it's 1910! High tea at noon, Cal Anderson Park Fountain.
Leisurely ride departs at 1pm. Wear woolens of great vint, ride velocipedes, bring chums!
If you are so inclined to bring along a spot of tea (or other delicious beverages) and some tasty treats (such as scones, finger sandwiches and the like), it would be most appreciated by one and all.
In addition to enjoying a spot of tea, we are most excited by the idea of playing with your balls! Yes, yes! Your hard little balls will fill us with laughter and glee! Bring your croquet and bocce ball sets, and we shall have a grand time playing with the balls and riding the bicycles. The ride shall culminate at a fine British pub-type establishment, where we shall imbibe in the freshest ales and consume wholesome foods.
Good show! Pip, pip!
Cheerio,
Nova & Sylvie

it's the new trend. trade in your easily stolen b-52s for a wool suit and a riveted brooks, or an ancient boat-anchor raliegh. You don't ride anyways, so what do you care that you can barely get it up the stairs to your apartment. Also, you don't actually drink tea, but it's sure a bloody lark to do it while riding your vintage raliegh with a bunch of other dorks wearing $3k bespoke cycling suits. Finish the day off with some schnapps and a game of snooker.
Tomorrow, go outside and practice your "elephant trunk" skids and riding backwards for an hour.
Also, it would be hilarious for p83 to crash this on your most kit-bashed home-built non-vintage bikes while wearing wool pants from the army surplus and old sweaters. bring a handle of bourbon, and start drinking with breakfast.

whatever beasts, this is gonna be an extremely homosexual time. if you're too str8acting to attend, you'd better start tightening up your pants and stop drinking tea. I SAW YOU IN THE MARKET WITH THE CRUMPETS AND THE EARL GREY WITH THE EARL OF GLOUCESTER BY YOUR SIDE MAKING LITTLE NOISES LIKE "chip chip!" and "cheerio!" and "right-ho!" and carrying a dickens novel and um. I SAW IT.

Sylvie and I have been bullshitting about this for some months, actually. But as I think you're all probably aware, Tweed Rides are the new "thing" for bike dorks who wear a lot of woolly thrift store clothes and can't afford fancy new carbon fiber rigs--or maybe just don't even want 'em cos we prefer to spend our hard-earned cash on whiskey and tea.
All internet bullshit aside, I hope some of you will make it out. This promises to be delightfully bike dork-tastic fun, with plenty of room for mischief later in the day. S'all I'm sayin.
Oh, and: pip pip! woollen bicycles for everyone! the new rallying cry of bike dorks everywhere.

I love carbon and wool, thin tubed steel and highly polished aluminum.
Why can't we all just make more money and get along?

In other news, some of you funemployed tweed enthusiasts should come to Special Collections and look at this circa 1899 photo album of a group of friends on bike trips, including camping. Unfortunately none of it is digitized yet but it's fun to view the real thing! I suggest you take the tweed ride along Lake Washington Blvd since that was one of the first bicycle paths in the city.
Also, can we have a toy sailboat race this summer?
