So our friend Todd Gillman was picked as the poster boy for the new IPA from New Belgium. It is called "Ranger IPA" and the grand release day is February 1 (this coming Monday).
There are a limited number of venues that will be offering this beer on opening night. Originally I planned to guide a ride from venue to venue ending up at the amazing Brouwers in Ballard. However, I am willing to entertain route suggestions based on the following list of venues and a .83 sense of style.
There are no rules, but I would prefer to make it Brouwers before 10pm when the kitchen closes so use your backwards planning skills and figure out how many of the following our group could actually make it to.

I live in New Belgium town (aka: fort collins). I'll have to go talk to some friends there and see if I can't find the local here that are doingthe same, and do the same.
Granted, it's IS on a Monday, so that will limit the participation. But al things considered, I like this idea

In any case, maybe we should plan to meet up at one of the downtown spots, sort of in the middle of us all.

He will be at as many of them with us as he can. There might even be some "samples" available if you make it. Brouwers is having gold sprint races for the tapping party.

Work will likely keep me from making the Hopvine; my plan now, as if anyone cares, is to hit the Madrona Alehouse about 8:00, drink some Ranger, then head over to Brower's by 10:00.

that's probably because you are primarily used to west coast style ipas. it's probably the most honest-to-awesome style of beer to have perfected right here in the ol' northwest.
interestingly, the ranger is supposed to pour at 60IBU, making it more hoppy than, e.g. the elysian immortal ipa at 42IBU.

An interesting perspective - New Belgium is not known for their hoppy beers. They are a brewery forged from the irons of the traditions of belgian brewing. These traditions are known for their maltiness, their high alcohol content, their distinct yeast flavors, even their fruit-based delicacies. But they are not known to be alpha-acid powerhouses.
It's cool if you guys like it, I am just personally not much of a fan.

I always wonder how the Elysian comes up with their IBUs. Their published IBU numbers are much lower than what the beers taste like to me.
It could be that they do the real analysis and everyone else just computes it based on ingredients, or maybe it is the other way around.
Northwest IPAs are quite a bit hoppier than the original style. The traditional finishing hop used here (Cascades) is also much more in your face than the traditional finish hops used in English IPAs (Fuggles).
