Oh hai guys. My name is Kristen. I'm pretty sure some of you know that I have been applying to med school throughout the entirety of my time with point83. I received a rejection email from UW yesterday. Considering the money and time spent, and also considering that we all know how much I enjoy rejection via email (heyooo! i made a funny!), I haven't been doing too well. I haven't left my bed yet today, actually.
Is there anyone out there with a free afternoon and perhaps interested in a good ride? I promise I won't cry, at least not visibly, and I won't be morose or depressing, I won't even reference the med school thing. I just need to get out of my apartment. I think that torturing myself on hills and miles will probably put the world in better perspective, and I seem to be more willing to push myself really hard when I'm riding with other people.
Lemme know. I think I'll leave from Oddfellows Cafe in Capitol Hill at 3.

Have you looked in to Oregon or WSU? Often times those not admitted to UW pursue those schools.

Sadly, Oregon's med school, OHSU, is basically closed off to out-of-state applications that do not qualify for WICHE. WSU does not have a medical school.
I'm not completely out of the running for 2010 admission to other schools, but UW has fully rejected me, which means that if I attend med school in the fall, it will be on the other side of the US.

A good beer after I ride this afternoon...yes. I think so. So, there's another reason that someone, anyone should ride with me today.

Is that where Ben Rose's doctor went? I hear he has quite the lucrative customer base.

I was going to do the south lake loop anyway. Planning on leaving 2:45ish from my house (20th and Madison), but could probably push it back to 3. Have to be back by 5 though.

This sounds good, and I think I'll join you (thanks!). I'm not as fast as you are, so this will be a good challenge for me. Let's plan for your original leave time so that we can get you back to the hill by 5.

Crap I would be all over it but today I didnt bring my bike. I brought my tennis shoes to try this running thing for something different. After your bike ride (bikes pshaw) I would be up happy to join you guys for a drink when you get back to the hill.

there's my sport! Who wants to do some Wednesday afternoon drinking on the hill at, like, 5:30 when I leave my soon-to-be former job?

Hey we're going to Town Hall tonight! I'm totally down for hill drinks 'round 6:30-7.
Perfect. Hey, the Hideout is pretty close to Town Hall. Or, you know, someplace cheaper.

I like the hideout a lot! I also like cheap, a lotter! What's cheap around there? I just realized that town hall is an ideal zip line destination from my office. Well... not so ideal, it's a bit steep.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm. Anyone? 'Cause I got nothin'. Though Redwood will be in happy hour at that time. Not particularly close, but cheaper than the Hideout.

Six Arms has a great happy hour and lots of windows if it is by chance sunny.

I feel called to dispute this. They have great happy hour food prices, but happy hour drink prices are not very good. In any case, their happy hour is 4-6 so it's probably a moot point. Windows, though--true.

also (i know it's true for both henry and i) the six arms has an uncanny ability to piss people off for no good reason. nothing in that area is cheap. the hideout is probably the best value; it is awesome.
though i have never been into that freaky first hill bar and grill. its appearance says "maybe come in, i am either cheap or scary." who likes adventure?

This could very well be true. My happy hour focus tends to be on food. Arent we meeting around 5 when Kristen and Rob get back to the hill?

Perhaps. I'm off work at 5:30, and Henry said something about 6:30-7. Someone should just call it, as I don't really care.

Sure, my bike lock is too big for my bike now, sharing is easy.
