Hi,
New to .83
Been reading your threads for a bit and figured I would jump in. Clearly not trendy, young (no I won't buy you beer), or urban enough to fit in, but who really cares. I like bikes . I live in Suburbia, drive a big old Suburban and coach my kids soccer team. Mountainbiking is my main bicycle passion but I enjoy anything that has to do with riding. I love urban riding especially at night (although living way out here, it is usually a chore to get to the big city). Here is a picture of one of my recent bike projects:

Somebody had stolen the last can of flat black so I had to use glossy instead.

Cheers,
T

Sockpuppet Troll score: 3/10.

Pressed all our buttons but did so in such an obvious and unentertaining way that it's not worth rising to the bait.

I guess I should have added not very witty either. I am who I am and pretty comfortable in those shoes. No buttons to push. Just seek like minded people with a common interest.

Thus the "I like bikes" statement and taking the time to post one of my bicycles in my post.

No worries,
T

Nope. I have a few others. Nothing too exciting, but they mean a lot to me.
Here is one I put together a few weeks ago:

Quick sunny day photo shoot to prove at one time it wasn't dirty.
My goal was Era correct and no Shimano. Almost made it. Need to find some different canti's for the rear (986's are too new). the last clean pictures. It is pretty dirty now since it took over duties as my primary rider.

How about you, Any photos?

Cheers,
T

When I build my mountain bike, it will look like the picture below, except that it will have XTR up-and-down, and I will put grey grips on instead of red. I will probably eat a sandwich before I ride it; currently leaning toward pastrami. With, of course, a side of rutabega, arugula, and cilantro broccoli.

Nah, no hurries. I will wait to see it when you take it out for a ride. Possibly this summer when things warm up enough for you to ride again.

I could never justify the price of XTR. Never rode a Rock Lobster, but the y sure look cool. After our ride yesterday, I took my son out to lunch. It was kinda neat because we both ordered the same sandwich. Black forest ham. He had a different kind of cheese on his though. How can you compete with the massive conglomerates when they can offer a foot long for only $5.
Cheers,
T

Recycling. Also, I believe the punctuation mark you're looking for looks like this: '?'. This denotes a question, which I'm assuming this is based on the phrasing.

You are a sock puppet until you come on a ride and prove otherwise.

That's how we play.

For the record, based on the records of IP address that the point83 Accounting and Compliance Subcommittee tirelessly updates, there is no obvious proof that Mr. Ductape is a sock puppet.

I was never trying to be useful. Just trying to meet a few peers. Jeff put things into perspective when he stated nobody was real until they came out on a ride. Well who knows, invite me sometime and I will try to make it.
Until then, this is all I got to convince you I am pretty much everything I have stated:

Suburban loaded up for a family ride last summer. Future inlaws were in country for about a month. We had a good time:

One of my regular rides out in the farmland towards Buckley/Enumclaw. That is Rainier School in the distance. Possibly you know someone who goes there:

No sock puppet this time.
I give up for a little while though.
Enjoy the day,
T

We don't invite people on rides.

People show up, introduce themselves and then we explain that we are dicks on the internet, but *nice in real life

That's how this thing works.

I like this guy already.

Thursday. Westlake Center. 7pm. We ride at 730. Rain or shine. Determine your own level of involvement. If you are a douche you will be exposed and purged. If you are not then you won't. Pretty basic.

That said you're already in violation of RULE 6 of the TOS by having more posts than miles. So shut the fuck up and we'll see you Thursday.

If this is a troll, fuggit - I'll take it. I got some troll karma coming.

What's the exchange rate here for dead baby ride miles to .83 posts? I'd go post over there but their message board sucks.

Ducttape, T, whoever...

We pretty much use real names here so don't be afraid. Miles is a little militant with his posting morals. He hardly posts himself except to tell people to stop posting. Jeff is just leery of ANON things in general, he may have been fallen prey to TacomaDude's bait once.

I dig, this, in fact I may have more questions about the set up and to see the whole bike.

.83 rides won't typically cater to a Lake Tapps family man but if you ever find yourself with a vacant Thursday evening and Friday open for recovery feel free to come out. We also have some semi-special races like the FHR or summer camping trips. We like to know people with big Suburbans for those trips sometimes.

This is one of my favorite bikes and I'd be happy to talk about how I set it up. Like I said, I like urban cycling but I prefer the summer weather; maybe you'll see me in a few months.

As for my name, Ducttape suits me. It represents my approach to life. But when I ride with you you can call me Tim.
