After seeing what clever submissions .83 came up with for last year's Spoke Card Competition (I posted some pics of the finalists here) I thought some of you might be interested in this year's Zeit Bike exhibit. Here is some info on what is happening this year.

CALL TO ARTISTS

ZeitBike 2010: Kinetic Interventions
Budget: $1,000 per commissioned piece
Deadline: March 19, 2010

In recognition of National Bike Month, The City of Tacoma and the Tacoma Art Museum invite artists and/or artist teams from Pierce and Thurston Counties to submit proposals for the creation of a piece of temporary artwork for the 4th annual Zeit-Bike exhibit at the Tacoma Art Museum.

Art Opportunity

The 2010 Zeit-Bike competition is seeking 3 artists or artist teams to create kinetic sculptures that reference bicycles either in form, materials, or essence. The sculptures must be functional enough to be ridden and human powered. The kinetic bike sculptures will be exhibited on the upper mezzanine at the Tacoma Art Museum from May 18 – May 21, 2010. A longer temporary installation location will be sought in conjunction with the Temporary Contemporary Tacoma exhibition series (see Background section for more information.)
