You should give me a fucking Jetta already. You can spare a few.

I have it on good authority that Derrick is donating one of his Jetta's to the FHR pile next year. The perfect bike accessory - his old Jetta!

That's no fish. Thats a bottle of 50% "Blue Hawaiian", and 50% cheap vodka. http://bit.ly/8i0szP

My probability of a Friday departure is directly correlated to percent chance of sunshine awesomeness.
I'd be up for leaving in the 10am to 11am ferry range so that I could also participate in a Thursday night ride to the fullest the night before as well.

I'm kinda interested in leaving Friday as well. Been talking with Kevin about it too. I would am planning to work an early day at work, come back home around noon and then jump on my prepacked bike and cruise down to the ferry to start the ride.
Joeball, are you committed to 10 or 11... how about 12 or 1? ; ) The current forecast shows sunshine awesomeness for now!
I know this isn't Suiattle, but please start considering ways in which I can stubbornly make this ride more difficult for myself.
I thought you were in Maine?

Friday May 7th, Seattle to Bremerton Ferry Options
8:30 am (*yawn* *rubs eyes*) [2:30pm/ 3:30pm]
10:00 am (I'm up an at 'em) [4pm/ 5pm]
11:10 am (I got a slow start) [5pm/ 6pm]
12:35 pm (I had to kill time) [6:30pm/ 7:30pm]
1:30 pm ('eh, I'll just ride with the kids on Saturday) [7:30pm/ 8:30pm]
[estimated camp arrival times]
I estimated it would take about 6 hours once the ferry left Seattle to get to camp including a lunch stop and chill pace. I tacked another hour on for the for the big Saturday group.
I plan on being packed and ready as well but will be taking the day off if I go Friday. 10 or 11 was ideal for me to try to get lunch in Belfair.

just fyi folks. if we're catching a 10am ferry to bremerton, get there well before 10am. we'll probably need to get in the ferry line by 930ish.
i'll be down there with booze to share at 9am (fhr location meetup)
if you're late, you're catching a boat 1 hour later and figuring out how to get there your damn self :)

Does anybody out there have a dutch oven or two they'd be willing to stash in Kyleen's car? If so, I will make a delicious camping dessert for those individuals, plus a small number of others willing to swear fealty to me.

pro tip from a 5 year ben country veteran: the safest thing to do is to stay up all night guarding yourself with a bottle of wild turkey and a rambo knife

Out of curiosity, is the main ride expected to pause in any of the small towns on the way out for lunch on Saturday?

we always end up stopping somewhere for snacks, drinks, etc. and traditionally the group doesn't cruise too fast in order to keep the pack together and not lose anyone in the middle of nowhere. there will be plenty of opps for food and such. im sure a couple of unexpected fixit stops along the way too.
when we spot the liquor store, there definitely will be a stop.
watch ben as the day wears on. he generally knows how long it takes to get to our destination but the group goes piles slower than he expects. you can see this wear thin on his patience as the day cruises along. it's better than television

This makes me so, so sad I have to car it out there.

Good tip. Substitute a 1.75L DFL flask half-full of Royal Gentleman for the bottle of wild turkey and I'm there!

Ben, is it even worth trying to fish out there or will I be spotted easily by Dept Fish & Wildlife and shot in the knees?
Also, where along this route is the best last stop to by beer/booze before the ride to the campsite?!
Out of curiosity, is the main ride expected to pause in any of the small towns on the way out for lunch on Saturday?
Belfair, ie 1/3rd of the way to the final destination. This is the certified grocery/lunch/alcohol stop on the route. Except for the seasonal grocery store in Union that hires hot chicks that Ethan and Langston have mentioned. I might send back a carrier pigeon to confirm or deny this on Friday.
