Thanks for clearing this up Ben.

But, just to be clear, there will be vegan options right?

Carry a lady on the back of your 700cc Xtra-cycle?

No, something new! That's so last year.

I don't believe a 700cc bike would have any problem carrying 2 people

chatting up one of the easy-on-the-eyes employees last summer, she said that it is only open in the summer. And that she was a freshman at PLU.

FWIW: just a little bit further up the Forest Service road from the turn off for our camp spot is the trailhead for the Skokomish River Trail... one of the few trails in Olympic Nat'l Forest open to bikes.
http://evergreenmtb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Trail:Skokomish_River_Trail

Highly recommend it, if anyone wants to drive out there with mountain bikes to check out one very very cool trail on Sunday. (I'm not gonna do that on this trip, but, just sayin...)

Also: for those who do drive (or for those who want to get in 5 more miles of riding) ... only a 2.5 mile detour from our route is the Skokomish High Steel Bridge ... old logging railroad bridge. pretty cool place, worth checking out, if you like big bridges n' stuff.

I like drinking beer in the country but it's so heavy! So I had this idea... I'm teaming up with Nick to do a beer and stuff delivery service. Nick is driving out to the country after some sort of team sport thing that he wants to see, and taking my wagon like vehicle. I'll probably throw in a couple cases of beer and then if you have any beer you want to add to the pile please do. I ask that it is cans only because it's easier to pack out. I can pack the car until it's full. I don't really know what the value of this service would be so just throw in some donations.

Not really, but like many of us I was more than a little put off by last years cascade like automobile-powered exodus from Ben Country. Without trying to put words in anyones mouth, I believe this is part of Bens point as well.

That sounds like a fun detour. Maybe if the weather's looking good I'll ditch the fenders & put the CX tires on... anybody else want to hit the easy first part of this trail Saturday evening after we roll in, or Sunday morning?

You must be referring to the 15 GALLONS of biscuits and gravy Wreyford sr and I made for everyone last year. Or the 20lb griddle I was asked to bring to throw in your car the first year.

Yeah my bad.

So what you're telling me is that we shouldn't offer this same service this year, because it failed and no one wanted people to bring things to share with the group in celebration.

The man has put out that it's his desire that this be an unsupported ride and half a dozen posts later there's more vehicle support talk.

For myself, I won't be bringing any 20lb griddles or umteen gallons of gravy or whatnot - at least not in a car. We have plenty of method, means, and motivation to try and make this a bike-only event, and I think that's the way to go. We have several strong riders, several experienced s240 riders, we have trailers and panniers and a bare minimum of singletrack - if any. We have every opportunity to at least try and do this right. Why not fucking try to.

That said, many of us have partners that don't ride, or are wounded. This ride is great because they CAN sag wagon it out and still hang with everyone. But I guess my continued feeling is, this should be the exception and not the rule.

Speak for yourself and act for yourself, but don't speak or act for others.

My ass is riding out, and getting a ride back.

If others want to follow that lead, I won't judge them.

"Unsupported" probably meant something different within, you know, context.

Its obvious that this is a prime example of giving a fuck when it's not my turn to give a fuck. Drive a car out there. Drive three.

1. hitchhike
2. vomitting chick with hamburgers
3. taxi
4. begged
5. ????
