We are going to be taking advantage of the extra hour of light and great weather and ride bikes sorta far away. Margaret suggested this place called Black Raven Brewing company over in Redmond that looks awesome. http://www.blackravenbrewing.com/index.htm. If we happen to pass by Red Hook when there is a tour we may stop there also. Expect to have about a 50 mile ride this sunday.
If we are feeling extra gung ho after there is also the Mac N' Jack brewery farther into Redmond and if we return via the bottom of the lake we can hit Georgetown Brewing Company (not Georgetown Liquor company).
Feel free to suggest more brewries.
Love Bike Sabbath

Ha, funny pic.. I actually met the Black Raven guys at the Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle, during some kind of IPA-tasting deal there several weeks ago. It was towards the end of the night and they were getting kinda drunk and rowdy. And actually, I think their IPA won and went on to become the BPP's "house" IPA
Anyway, I *have* been kinda wanting to make it to a Bike Sabbath... strong maybe, here.

make a full loop of it, fremont brewing isn't terribly far from fremont coffee.

As far as I know, they're only open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
P.S. 50+ miles and brewery stops please me. Looking forward to riding on Sunday.

This route is off the burke and supposedly has a fun/gorgeous downhill section. I've never done it but a friend of mine suggested it to me, so I thought I'd throw it out there. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/4083544

+1 avoid the burke, it's going to be full of bozos
Thanks for the routes blasdelf and kyleen. I will print them out and bring them.
Sorry Fremont Coffee meet up at 12:00 depart at 12:30 (people tend to arrive more like 12:15).
Since it looks like there is a chance of rain if its shitty the folks at Fremont Coffee can decide if they want to alter the plan to something else fun but still a decent ride.

Fremont Coffee to Black Raven Brewing was 25 miles on the BG & Samammish trails. My ride was 50 miles since I live in the middle.
Did anyone catch what that lady in blue screamed at us after sticking her arm out in a clothesline as we passed her a few miles north of Metropolitan Market?

Someone high -fived her while she was sticking her arm out and she started screaming about not touching her. She sounded like a witch from left 4 dead.

She sounded really upset, as though she had expected a different outcome. I was kind of baffled by the whole thing. If you don't want people to high-five you, don't you just stay to the right and let them pass instead of sticking your arm out into the middle of the trail? It kind of reminded me of a game my brothers and I would play, wherein player one flails their arms wildly about and when player two crosses the path of a swinging fist, claims that player one hit him or her, as though player two could have done nothing to prevent this from happening.
All in all it was a fun ride. I managed to lose a rear brake pad somewhere along the way but I didn't notice till I was stopping at Matthews Beach.

the previous three people who stuck their arms out at me on the burke actually did want a high five. :/
ETA: 46mi from fremont coffee to my turnoff near metropolitan market. FLAT and WINDY but the sammamish is always a pretty trail.

Dear Bike Sabbath,
I missed you this week. I'm sorry that I was enticed by the icy slopes of Big Sky, MT. I'm afraid that I'll be in MT next week as well, but for a less joyous occasion. I just wanted you to know that my week seems a bit incomplete without you.
Miss you,
Kristen

First Bike Sabbath ride was great - yay for spring break and not doing homework on Sunday.
Good people and good miles! I think it ended up being about a 50+ mile day for me as well with my ride back on the Burke and some detours I took on the way home to eastlake.

Twas indeed an awesome ride! Black Raven had some fine ales and the company on the ride was excellent. Felt a bit of shame taking a bus, but I had appointments to keep. Thinking this coming Sabbath might be even better.
