this is sorta making me not want to go to film by bike :-(
If we headed up the 17th camp. Ride on sunday morning and again at fort Ebey on the way back home... I think this would rock for me at least.

If you guys are looking for a good route might I suggest the 15E.
See ya at 6:53am.
The elevation change is gnarly, so make sure you stretch and drink your fluids.

Kinda iffy on April 17 … but if I do go, probably would only do so by biking onto the ferry… cuz this sounds all too familiar:

I just ask because the ferry was especially painful last Saturday. We arrived at 8:45 in time for the 10:15 ferry and got on the 1:40 ferry. Some of the delay was due to a broken ferry, some was due to crowds.
The only time I've gone to Orcas on a weekend during the summer, we went on Friday night (not much of a ferry wait) and then came back Sunday afternoon (4-5 hour ferry wait, ugh). And I've heard it's like that *most* weekends, either going to the San Juans on Saturday, or returning on Sunday, from April thru September. Don't care to do that again.
Who all's got trailers? I'm sure you've got at least two, Alex? :) Could haul camping gear onto Orcas by trailer...

I'll more than likely be riding in the SJ's and staying on Guemes Island that weekend. If you need a patch of grass in Skagit County on which to pitch a tent, i can probably lend you one.

Good point! I can also probably offer unlimited pickles :)
I'm tempted to skip the trailer and the MTB, and just do this on my CX rig.
Who's with me?
T-ball watched that movie and said it was cute.
Sounds like I have a good chance of going, I just need some help making a reply video to Rivendell showing how much fun it is to ride a bike using this song. Actually I don't really care for the Beetles that much so I am up for other suggestions.
What if we drove up Friday night and camped here
Ride onto the ferry unloaded Sat a.m. get back in the evening.

joeball and I have been talking logistics a bit. I want to go and was going to ride it on a CXish bike anyway.
The ferry schedule isn't in our favor:
alex: ugh, the schedule sucks now
10:35 is the slow boat, it gets to orcas at 11:40
figure 2 hours to moran state park with a stop
now it's 1:40
ride for 3 hours on trails (4-5 would be nicer)
now it is 4:40
2 hours back
now it's the 6:30 ferry, 7:35 back in anacortes
miss the 6:30 and it is a 9:30 ferry
i guess planning for 9:30 and getting more riding time wouldn't suck. dinner on orcas
The earlier ferry is 7:35, gets to Orcas at 8:40. That gives lots more riding time, but is pretty early.

I'm in for riding Saturday the 17th, returning to Seattle Sunday around noon-ish(or Saturday night). Camping Friday night sounds good, but I could also go early Saturday morning.
I'll need a ride with someone.

Jimmy I think the tentative plan is to go up Friday night and camp in Anacortes to catch the 7:30am boat.
Alex, Denny, and I are all they 'maybe's, Ben was a maybe too until he got lost in Hells Canyon.

I'm still a maybe, but if I go I'll be driving up first thing Saturday morning (I think that means leaving Seattle at 5:30am) because I have plans on Friday night. That probably makes me a less than 50% likely maybe.

I'll be in the area. Not sure where yet. Possibilities include Guemes, Orcas, Shaw and Lopez islands.
I'm in for the Friday night or Saturday morning plan, prefer Friday night. I have room for 2 more bikes.

Alex, are you still thinking about Sat. morning? Turns out that works best for me. If not, I'll check in with Denny about tonight.
