it's my understanding that the one on 45th is the only one that does the bucket dealings. that's what i was told when i tried to go to the one in lower queen anne a few years back.

I went there multiple times and either it was the wrong day (no buckets available) OR I kept misisng out to the other hippies that wanted buckets and beat me there on the correct day.

This became annoying.

I bought Ortliebs.

45th. If you call early in the day you can talk them into holding the buckets for you. I've never made bucket panniers, but I got a bunch of buckets a few years ago to use as planters for tomatoes and jalapeno peppers.

When Tweedy and Popps had a larger store they used to sell the buckets for $1 ea. I know $2 could break the bank, but it was worth it to avoid having to play hit or miss games with Dicks. Might be worth checking if Dicks is out of them.

Henry -- You can borrow a pair of bucket panniers (or probably even real panniers) for BC if you'd like. The same offer goes to anyone who returns them promptly (lets say 2 weeks) and in similar condition to how they borrowed them. Of course panniers are pretty useful to own too and that 20% REI coupon expires soon.

Tonight i walked up to the window at Dicks on 45th and said "I'd like four buckets and a cheeseburger".

The nice man behind the window pushed a couple of buttons on his machine and said "That will be $4.54, here's your cheeseburger and I'll be right back with your buckets."

America is truly a great place.
