Tom Milton, the man behind Selle An-Atomica saddles, passed Saturday afternoon of an apparent heart attack during the Devil Mountain Double Century. Milton was 56 years old.
Milton was a little over halfway through the 200 mile distance ride when he collapsed while climbing Mt Hamilton east of San Jose, California. Several cyclists immediately stopped to give aid and attempt CPR. Santa Clara Sheriff deputies arrive shortly and took over CPR; they’re still at it 40 minutes later when paramedics show up and take over.
Milton was well known and liked in the long distance cycling community, participating in several randonneurring events throughout California.
