Farm party time again! Come on down to Clair's place, hang out, meet the goats, enjoy the fire and camp out in the pasture.
We'll have a barbeque going all afternoon and evening Saturday, so bring some grillings. There's a mini-mart nearby, or a grocery store just a few miles away. We won't be providing food/drink Saturday, but on Sunday morning we'll be making breakfast tacos for any campers.
There are lots of places to set up a tent, and good hammock trees. If the weather is terrible, we could even fit a lot of people into the garage.
Biking directions and discussion in this thread and previous years' threads (linked below). If you drive, come by to drop off your stuff, but we'll have you park down the road at the Grange/Firehouse. It's 1-2 miles, so you can walk back, borrow a bike or work out some sort of shuttle.
When? 5-6th June, 2010
Where? 5330 Kinney Rd SW, Olympia

I didn't make it previous years but hope to come this time. I'll probably drive down so if anyone wants a lift, let me know!

Count me in. The farm party in October was wonderful. Will there be a new food or drink project since the apple-pickin' cider-makin' has been done?
I hope Clair still has that mix with Ray Charles' "Night Time is the Right Time" on it. It'd be fun to relive that magical kitchen dancing experience.

I want to roast a pig! Kalen thinks it is too late to do this (we only started talking about it a week ago) but I want to sooo bad. Does anyone want to help me make this happen? The main pitfall is the spit - I have no metal working skills, and it has to be stable enough to be able to support a large, ponderous, piece of meat for many hours, and it has to be turnable. (If we do this next year I want it to be bicycle powered, but I'm trying to keep my aspirations in check!) The secondary pitfall is the pig itself which would have to be purchased, killed and cleaned if purchased live, or just be stored if purchased dead (but where does one get a whole dead pig?); and the tertiary pitfall is of course the actual pit. This would need to be dug in the yard, and then coals would have to be maintained long enough to cook the thing.
I know it's a huge project, and if it doesn't happen this year that's okay, but it would be pretty awesome if we pulled it off. This site has been inspiring me the last couple of days: http://www.firepit-and-grilling-guru.com/pig-roast.html
I am so sad not to be out Ben-Countrying tonight! You guys have beautiful weather for it. Oh well, duty calls. Now out to the barn to do some livestock medicating...

This sounds really cool. I'm going to shy away from the, ("yes, but no")'s for the moment, though.

I might do this. My little brother and a bunch of my friends graduate from TESC on the 11th, and I was already planning on riding down there for that on my ALAN, since Larry at OlyBikes has a special Mavic BB facing tool I want to use on it.
Might as well go down early with others and make a vacation out of it!
In the last years thread Ben linked to a route that starts very similarly to BC V down the Kitsap via Union cutting across to Shelton. I might want to go directly to Shelton via 3 just for a change of scenery, though that store in Union was fucking awesome. From Shelton it looks like it's possible to only have to spend 3mi at most riding on 101.

All of 3 is ok on the way back if I acknowledge singlespeed bikes with impractical ratios are really lame. And headwinds. Well, I don't know about the overpass once one gets to Puget Sound.

Right. So this is awesome and you should bike there. It's going to be fun.
Ferry schedule shows an 8:30am and a 10am ferry. As early as the former is, it is preferable to get there in the afternoon and get to wander around the farm and enjoy it before it gets dark and the party starts so 8am meetup at the FHR spot under the viaduct next to the downtown Seattle ferry terminal is best.

Bryan knows what happened it was great great really great.
Unfortunately, I should find some OTHER way to get down there for fri-sat AGAIN.
I don't care how many times a more liberal version of this is online: if one ever feels any discomfort in their achilles, they should stop riding asap or lower the seat a lot and take it very easy to a point where they don't have to ride any more and think about treatment.

OK, I've missed too many of these farm parties. IN!edit: Strong maybe here.
Most likely will be driving tho ... can't remember what right now but it seems like I have other too much other stuff going on that Sunday, to make a full weekend deal outta this. Probably will wanna head back to Seattle fairly early-ish on Sunday ... 11 am or something
have room for three extra people, and two bikes, in the car if people want rides.

Whoa, my password still works!
Hi .83. I would like to go to the Farm Party. I have been wanting to make a trip down to Oly to visit friends and this presents the perfect opportunity to do that, go to an awesome farm party that i've heard so much about, and get some training in for the STP. Triple Win!
Ethan, would you be willing to haul some extra camping gear in your car?

Anyway, if I do go, yeah sure Suzanne, can do! definitely driving if I go.

I'm firmly staying in the "I like the city and girls who pummel other girls for my amusement" camp. Wanna plan on getting a row of seats together for .83ers?

Is our Chaser going to be officiating? Y'all should do some organized 'support'. Be the problem you seek in the world.

Morning comes really early, 8am meetup under the Viaduct. We'll get on the ferry shortly thereafter. Anyway, if you can't find your way from the viaduct to the ferry we hate you. We'll assemble bicycle voltron on-board.
