/edited: july 10/11th looks like it's been set in stone. im editing this post with pertinent information and taking out the date picking stuff//
boats that look in for sure:
-october (eric bott)
-winterhawk (sekai/justin)
-captain tim
contact the boat captains to set up passage
kayaks will be launching from south of alki early on saturday. more info on that as it gets closer to the date. we'll group paddle over the water crossing together (3-5 miles if i remember right). beg/borrow/steal a kayak to join with us.
sleeping: we usually get a campsite on shore, arrange sleeping on the boats with the captains as space permits. we won't know what side of the island we're on until we get there and claim space. last years southern location was nice and secluded, but the northern spot has a great sunny beach. we'll figure that out on the fly
hopefully there are a couple tenders to ferry people from boats to shore.
there is an option to ride the ferry over and back, but i don't know the schedule or price of that. the island is only about 3 miles around, and has cell service, so should be easy to find us if you go that route
we camp, play games, hike around, and steal other peoples yard games while eric the beard passes out in the grass. it's been good fun in the past and so far we've always had good weather.

I'd like to be in this year. June is pretty busy, but I'll pencil that date in. Early July (but not the 4th) would be more awesome.
If I go then I probably have kayaks and basic gear that I can loan to other experienced paddlers.

We're moving Dorothy Rose down to Elliot Bay Marina soon. If we don't have other plans that weekend i'll try to get her out, it'll be a much quicker trip than it was from Beaux Arts.

Kind of thinking of going paddling on Sunday. Anyone interested? Probably just for a couple of hours. I don't really care where we go.

Oh hell yes. Greyhounds on the October again? Me getting my core workout by standing on the prow yelling at ferries? Sunburn? Swords? White power vessels? Sleeping under stars?
Fuck, this year I won't even miss the soccer match on the 11th! I am so in!

I have one tandem kayak and (probably) one single kayak that are loanable, plus paddles and PFDs. All are touring/sea kayak style.

Well hell yeah! Sorry we missed this last year. Winterhawk goes in the water in a few weeks.
Not sure where we'll be keeping her, thinking Harbor Island. But we should have room for crew/ gear as well.
Stoked.

Bott, that was me also obliquely requesting passage on October like last year. Sorry to not be clear. Got more room?

I have 2 single boats and gear, but I'm not 100% confident in open water crossings, as I suck at kayaking, but fuggit, I may be down with this.

I'm looking for 2 spots on a sailboat over. We have camping gear so we can sleep on shore. Justin if you end up at Harbor Island that would be close enough for us to just walk down to if you have room.

for kayaking we leave in a group, we leave early morning(calmer waters usually), and we have radio contact with sailboats just in case we have any troubles. 2 years now and no trouble. last year the water looked a little rough coming back and we were lazy so we hitched a ride on henry's boat back close to west seattle and dropped in.
if you can handle yourself in a kayak, you'll be fine on this. the crossing doesn't take much time at all so we've got an entire day to relax and terrorize/explore the island.

I would probably like to do this. Preferably in a kayak. Are there any spares remaining? If not, I would like to put myself first in line for "Yes, but no" cancellations.

We'll have plenty of room as long as you're OK with dogs. We have a #90 beast we'll be bringing along.

Due to an eclectic and proprietary mix of timing, karma, and eugenics, booking on October is at AngrySchott, AngryEliz, Sweeney, and Jeni. I'm going to evoke the captain's privilege and close it for now, with the possibility of opening more space later.

Hmm... Looks like I'll be swimming across unless more boats are coming.

As far as Fridays go, I can get outta work around 12:00 if needed, which probably means on your boat in Shilshole around 1:00... too late? I'll go to work at 4:00 am and get out at 10:00 if needed?! These dates are almost too far away for me to plan for sure for now, but I'll do whatever it takes for joining in on a good sail!
I would probably like to do this. Preferably in a kayak. Are there any spares remaining? If not, I would like to put myself first in line for "Yes, but no" cancellations.
I probably have a spare, but it might be a tandem, so you'd need to find another person. I won't know for sure until closer to July (when Christine figures out if she can get time off of work).
The tandem is good for open crossings. It is more stable than the singles, has a rudder that makes it easier to steer, and when get tired you can make the other paddler do all of the work.

I have white pants and a white shirt. I'm a firm yes, but maybe. Would like to apply for a coveted position on the dorothy rose, should she sail.
