Oh fuck yeah. My birthday is wonderfully timed this year despite being a Wednesday.
Usually I like to take my birthday to be a quiet, introspective affair for self-reflection and rumination on the year that has passed.
Fuck that, it's not happening this time around.
I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE SOUNDERS MORE HERE. BEAR WITH ME, IT'S AWESOME.
There's a secondary competition the Sounders compete in besides league play called the US Open Cup. You've probably never heard of it, but it's the oldest continually fought-for annual trophy in professional soccer. Anywhere. (Fuck you, FA Cup, taking a break due to "world wars") We also happen to be defending champions, and it's single-elimination, so it's a blast. Jeff, there are no ties allowed.
We're playing the LA Galaxy - quite possibly the best team in American soccer history, with the way they're playing this year. You might have heard about this guy named Landon Donovan from that soccer ball world series thing? Yeah, he plays for them.
The match is at Starfire in Southcenter - it's the training facility the Sounders use, and it only seats about 5,000. It's outdoors, the beer is surprisingly cheap, and the atmosphere is fucking amazing. The matches we played there last year were the most exciting and entertaining we've ever played. It's about $20 for a ticket online through soundersfc.com, but only $15 if you go to the box office at Qwest Field.
I was thinking of meeting up at 5 downtown (probably WLC) and biking down there if it's nice, or taking light rail and have the last leg be bikes if it's crummy (it won't be crummy).
Then the next day is the fucking BULLS RIDE OH YES.
TL;DR: Come watch soccer on my birthday next wednesday, $15, ride our bikes there from WLC, riding of the bulls the next day.
ps - if you give me word you want to go for sure, I'll go do a large purchase tomorrow afternoon from Qwest and y'all can get me back day-of.

Some day there will be a soccer game with ska bands that will make your head explode.

What I wanna know is: Where did forums 1, 3, and 7 go? I'm betting that 7 is the long-lost SFO forum, but whattabout the other two?
3 was a temp forum that we set up for the people running Cranked magazine a few years back. 7 was SFO. only the admins see them now, unused and nothing gets posted there. not sure what 1 was, probably the default forum set up on install that got deleted

I love that it took less than a half-hour to get a completely satisfactory answer to that question.
Point83: Not only do we make 35% of the internets, we ride bikes as well.
Post up if you want to do this ride on Sept 1st when we play Chicas, I will probably be down. I am going to the Sounders Women game on Sat so I will test out a route

Uh oh, ECS / .83 cross-pollination. This could get interesting. The route we took the other day worked fine - westlake to airport to interurban to the green river trail. Chivas match is still aways off so once tickets become available I'm sure I'll post an open invite, and people will roll their eyes and not come. Awesome.
