Went to open house, saw plans, talked to city people.
Not sure it's a good idea, new design isn't good for fast riders....
It may be worth it, I would just have to slow down....
What do you think?

I thought you have Showtime and were going to say you were having a party for the season premier of Dexter. :-(

from what I've been able to observe in pdx, bicycle facilities usually result in a lower average speed for everyone. This is good, because bike facilities help cars believe that bikes should be there. This is bad because when you're on a road where there's no paint, car drivers get really aggressive.
It's difficult to believe that a little paint makes a difference, but it sure seems to.

I took some pictures of a bike-way in Brooklyn. It seemed to suck less than I thought it would. Long turn lanes and broken up parking make it easy for cars and bikes to see each other.
It would be rougher on a two way street like Dexter though. Left turning cars would suck.

Even though the study was based out of England, I have to say the results resonate with me, at least when outside the downtown core.

Take westlake. Stay in the right lane. The cars can go around: there's a whole 'nother lane!
