ok, after talking to a few people, this one seems like a good choice:

Product Material Stainless Steel
Product Measurement 10.75" H x 2.75" W
Imprint Dimension 3" Width x 3" Height
Product Capacity 26 ounce

price is lower than i thought. might be around 6/7 dollars a piece
consensus is that this is the same size as the kleen bottles that do fit in a bottle cage.

any major objections/concerns?

i was going to do white logo on black bottle. can only do one color run at a time.

but i can be a bit democratic about it

first four people that post here agreeing on which color choice they want will control the color run of this steel set

-silver with black logo
-black with white logo

go!

Silver with black. I speak from experience. The paint will just get scraped off on water bottle cages.

This one looks like it could be a better match for the threading, no way to tell though.

hate to be the bringer of bad news but those aren't going to fit in normal cages.

notice the indentation on the sigg about 6" up? yeah, you need that for cages.

interesting because my kleen kanteen fits in my cages, and it doesn't have the indentation.

lee has a kleen this exact same size and verified that it fits just fine.

here's a picture:

am i missing something?

someone else have a steel one of the same size that can verify with the above dimensions and make sure that it fits fine?

i can change the order tonight/tomorrow if needed, isn't made yet.

if consensus is "worried", then i can change to this type of bottle:

not sure if that indentation is in the exact place needed to make ben happy.

nope not missing anything, the picture illustrates exactly what i was talking about. it will sit the same way a 22er beer fits.
maybe i'm the only one this bugs. meh

it depends on the cage. some have more of a hook at the top than others.

i just spoke to lee. it seems to fit fine in a wide arrange of bottle holders, but as ben pointed out, without the lip area, puts a bit more push on it. lee seems to like it that way. i'd think it would hold it in more securely?

meh, let's go with this run of 25 as is. looks like it'll work good. we can do another run with that other bottle i posted if there's enough need.

ben, well, we just can't always make him happy about everything now can we?

I'll take two. I'd prefer the ones without the indentation, as they look like Klean Kanteen knock-offs (or the exact same thing made by the exact same factory) and should fit in the KK bottle cage.

I think black bottles with silver logos would look sexy, but painted/enameled/anodized/whateveridized bottles tend to look like crap after a few months of King-Arthuring them in and out of the cage.

if you need an indentation added, i suggest just letting sketchy run around in the river with it in his pockets for a while.

i just went to rei, i tested an exact duplica in a bottle cage and it fit perfectly snug.

i tested it on the black painted ones and scuffed them up right away. so good call on silver plain colored
