As I understand it, this was the weekend that everyone sited as the one to go for - so here's your thread.
We're shooting for the Sulphur Creek campsite. The route all the way to Sulphur Creek has been cleared of all downfall so you won't have to dismount. It's a great spot with a lot of space - we always have a pile of fun, and it's very accessible, even for noobs, girlfriends, wives, visitors, etc. The backup site will be the Downey Creek site, two miles closer, right next to the pedestrian bridge.
Historically the plan has been to meet up at the 65th street park and ride and caravan up on Saturday morning. I can't do it this time - am going up on Friday - so if someone could volunteer to do it, that'd be pretty sweet.
Drive to Darrington - pick up last minute groceries and liquor
Drive to the trailhead 12 miles from there
Pedal 10 miles on hardpack on a steady 2% incline - you won't even realize you're climbing.
Camp!
The ride back is always sweet. 2% climb you don't feel - a 2% bomb is pretty nice.
WARNING: If you're afraid of falling trees, this may not be the ride for you. If you get killed by a falling tree, it was your time to go. Maybe you can stay home. I bet the Summer Babes will have a show coincidentally booked that very night - you can go to that instead. If you think you can get over your fear of falling foliage, then come on with your bad self.
See you up there!
===
Scotts Car - Going Friday - Kevin and Laura - no space left
Derricks Car - Going Friday, possibly. Broke hand. Dude?

Sorry Meg, Kevin and Laura already have it, and I hope to be Northbound no later than 2pm. Sunny Friday afternoon through Everett? I'm trying to avoid traffic.

Meg -- I'm thinking that I'll be leaving later on Friday. If not I'll head up Saturday morning.
Who was reserving spots in my car for the ride home? I need to make sure that I leave enough free for them. I think Kristen wanted one of them, Jimmy the other?

I think we talked briefly about Mrs. Thefly running a shuttle for a few people riding out?

i think you're right. jimmy, could you please confirm? if this is the case, it would be nice to relinquish spots in Alex's car so that he can transport people up without worrying about an overbooked return trip.
also: yay! camping!

Alex, I don't need a spot in your car. Kristen might not either.
The plan as discussed Thursday:
Mrs.thefly (Emily) is driving up, and will give Jimmy, Kristen, Peter(saccade) a ride back.
We can throw our stuff in the car Friday night, then roll out early Saturday morning (with a set of car keys) and pick up our gear at the trailhead.
Kristen, please confirm?
I'm thinking of rolling at 5am latest. Figure 10hrs total travel time, perhaps more. Not a race, but steady movement. The last time I stopped for an hour in Snohomish for breakfast, which was really nice. I would be up for leaving at 2am or even midnight, with plenty of napping time once we get there to recharge for the evening's festivities.

I'd be up for the earlier (midnight - 2am) leaving times. Peter?

Yep-ish. My odometer said 115 door-to-firepit last time.

Alex - I'll claim one of your spots as well, since Kristen and Jimmy are covered! The earliest I could leave is probably 4pm friday, but anytime after that through saturday morning is good.
Thanks!

Sounds good Jeni. I have one more spot if anyone needs it. I'm sort of thinking a 4pm Friday leave sounds reasonable, hopefully Everett-bound traffic won't be too bad.

Is this one way travel only? There is a work scheduling conflict a brewing and while I could skip it I would prefer to do the work thing + Suiattle. Gamble's ride is leaving a smidge too early ... gar!
Nope, it is two way. The one-way cyclists (you know, the ones who actually like to ride their bikes 115 miles up there) have a ride home.
I'm very flexible on timing, if we leave Friday I'd just like to arrive early enough to see where I'm putting up my tent, so around 9ish?

I'd like to go up on Friday (would be nice to hike most of the day Saturday) and am pretty flexible on timing.
I'd love to go with Alex, but if Laura wants to take that spot I could pilfer hers in Scott's car.

Did I miss in previous posts (amongst all the bullshittin') a rally point for dino-burners?

I am getting my weekends all freaking mixed up and thought Suiattle was this weekend. It isn't, so if Scott and Kevin haven't lost their minds yet I am down to stay in that car and head up earlier.
This means Alex's car has a spot.
Dates are haaaaaaaaaaaard, apparently.

I can head up fri. afternoon or sat. morn. I will provide plenty of gas and booze. I may have a car next weekend or I may not. DRAMA! So if I could get a ride from someone this would be greatly helpful.

I'm kind of into the 12-2am departure window. I could still work on Friday night. Would want to ride home in a car.
