I'm riding up to Anacortes and down Whidbey, through Port Townsend this weekend, only to find that the campsites at Fort Flagly and Deception Pass are pretty booked.

Does anyone know of any good stealth camping for a group of about 6 near either of these areas? Possibly with a beautiful view overlooking the water:)

Yeah Ft Ebey is a nice place to wake up. I've only ninja-bivied after dark at a wide spot on the bluff trail.

I'd second the notion to stay on Whidbey Island for a camping spot and then hop the ferry to PT the next day.

Ebey's Landing has a lot of area that a courteous stealth camp could be set up. The whole bluff has an awesome Western view too. I'd find a spot then come back in the dark and then get an early start in the morning.

Also I am pretty sure that State Parks will make room for you if you show up on foot/bike/kayak, even if you don't have a reservation. You could call Ft Ebey or Ft Casey and confirm this.

Alex, Andre, and I Stealth Camped on the bluff in March.

If you are on bikes you can camp in the picnic area at Ft. Casey, up the hill from the RV area. You'll probably have the place to yourselves. Not sure I'd try to stealth camp there, though, I think it's pretty close to the ranger station. Then just roll down the hill onto the ferry.

my eperience is that if you show up on foot/kayak/bicycle (human powered) and the site is full, talk to the rangers housed on site. if they don't have a dedicated hiker biker site they'll go out of their way to put you up somewhere.
