Hey, I wanna go race in B-Ham, but busing is a huge pain, the train is expensive, and biking up on a low geared ss cross bike is a bit much before a race. Someone should drive me. In Fact everyone should come out and race. My vague plan is to get smashed before or during, so I can go faster. I also want a ride back if any one as one.

this what teams are for. You should really try it.

If you figure anything out I would like a cyclocross hookup as well — I registered for the SSCXWC back in July and mostly forgot about it, and now want to get some practice in so that I can hopefully at least pass the qualifier.
I just got my ghetto ss cross bike put together — let's pose as a team, cause:

I sort have a team, sorta. It's The Evergreen State College Cyclocross Team, so most of us smoke, no one has a car, we all ride touring bikes, some of us with knobby tires, and I'm the only one who has actually raced. They are of no use.

If I could afford a car I could probably afford a train ticket too.... ya big jerk.

I will let you know if I figure out a "cyclocross hookup," although I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. I would gladly pose as a team with you too, I am also doing jank sscx. There is a race in Seattle on Sunday that would probably be easier to get to than Bellingham. I will be there if people want to come hang out.

ya, is there a reason why you didn't mention what this is and when it's happening?
I hear the I-5 onramp by the Tacoma Dome is great for hitching rides southbound if you got a bunch of that time.
+craigslist rideshare, got a ride from Portland to Ashland with a big bike a day before it went. costed ~$20 total since there were a handful of us in this guy's van.

Oh Yeah, sorry. Race this Saturday, the 25th in Bellingham. It's in the morning. That is all.

Pick up a rental from the Alamo* in the Hilton Hotel downtown Friday evening (5pm)? Leave early Saturday to race. Return car Saturday evening by 5pm. That's one day, son.
$30.05 for the economy car including taxes. You'll decline bullshit C/LDW insurance because your credit card covers it (all VISA Signature and MasterCards do, anyway).
Plus gas. This is more of a problem because you're going kind of far away. Figure ~25mpg highway driving, it'll be ~200mi round trip 8 gallons of gas at $3** = $24.
If you and Fred go halfsies, you can get your asses up there and back for about $25 a person round trip.
* go do some dicking around on priceline or whatever and you might be able to get it cheaper
** use gas buddy to go a little out of your way and fill up cheap before returning it, it doesn't have to be full to the brim and past F, just at F.

Don't you have to be all old and shit to rent cars? Don't you have to have licenses and stuff to drive them? This plan is riddled with holes, but thanks for the idea.

Evergreen state cyclocross team? LOL. this sounds like an excuse to ride bikes in the woods and smoke massive amounts.
also, teams are a pain in the ass. better just go to the seattle area one.
