Yes, I'm registered to race. We'll see if there are enough other jackasses present for me to be able to pass the qualifier on Saturday.

Registration for Worlds closes at 8pm today!

I have an awesome costume for Sunday — even if I don't qualify for the 3:30 WC race I still want to go and at least do the mid-day "category du jour". It looks like the Cat 4 men's race is at the late hour of 10:20 making it more accessible to us drunkards.

Who wants to drive to Kent on Sunday?

The approximate route for the qualifier was posted earlier: http://sscxwc.org/2010/10/crosscat-qualifier/

...and they're falling all over themselves to tell everyone not to ride the hobo trail after dark, as is our way.

An open message to anyone that is interested in racing this weekend's world championships(PRO!!!) and has not registered.

A little birdy told me that he isn't racing and someone can take his spot if interested. Must be able to drink lots of beer, race on a single speed and.... well that's it actually. This race is an epic disaster that will make a great story for your grandchildren, much like the sinking of the titanic. Except this is the disaster that you'll wish that you had participated in.

Only one spot available.
If you're interested get on it and let me know post-haste.

Hoooooooooooooooooverville was fun.

Patrick was fun. As was seeing Tall Bryan, Nat, and an arsenal of others. Tomorrow is the am alleycat in West Seattle, sprints in teh evening at Belltown Underground (will be serving beer), and then muddy ass racing on Sunday. Looks to be awesome.

EDIT: aww freaking shit. This is Laura and too lazy to log out and relog in as myself. Whatever. Shared laptop bullshit.

I just qualified for the SSCXWC — I'm #81

Luckily the culling was for each heat, because we got stuck waiting 7 minutes for a freight train to pass, and lost another minute or two looking for a faek checkpoint. Also got a combo multi-thorn & snakebite flat.

Max Shalitmontagne qualified too in a later heat!

Results might appear at the MFG site but I'm not sure (and that page is way behind the times anyway).

.83 familiars I saw racing: Fred, Max, Kat, Meat, Tall Bryan.

The course was really long, looped back on itself several times with a fly-over, and 5 laps. All sorts of people were getting strung out, lapped, and mixed up. It was basically impossible to keep track of what was going on. But it sure was fun to watch.

I won the unofficial FGCXWC, by creating my own category and not being too much of a pussy to race the SSCXWC on a fixed gear. I have my own gold bikini and may have my own podium ceremony later on; however, I don't think I'm going to get an unofficial tattoo.

That mud was fucking legendary. Anyone who was fazed by the storm and didn't make it out to Kent missed an awesome shit-show.

Didn't see you but glad to hear you were there to witness!

The only result I know (other than my unofficial FGCXWC title, and also the fact that I may have* finished DFL) is that I'm pretty sure that Wendy Simms won the womens' division.

*may have = probably did but DFC (don't fucking care)

Nice. Thanks for the link Jimmy, flickr doesn't seem to have a lot of pics up yet.

Do you need a female vocalist for your screamo metal band? The dark haired chick will not disappoint.

A handlebar-cam of the qualifier from a guy that was in my heat — you can see me get the hole shot out of the gate, I was way ahead when we all got stuck behind the freight train for 6-7 minutes.

Kevin tried Cat 4 on his singlespeed with standard-reach single-pivot brakes. He finished, wasn't lapped, and wasn't last:

I was really terrible at remounts — I was in the top 30 after the massed starting runup and got passed by at least 70 people while getting on my bike at the top. Even after I got the routine down better, my pedals kept filling up with rocks. I didn't crash, even with not being clipped in on the two main wheeleating descents on most laps. When I tried to ride real fast through the mud my lower back hurt like hell, so I didn't go hard enough for for my muscles or lungs to hurt.

I got lapped once by the competitive riders, and they finished maybe a half-lap ahead when the hour was up. I was at the front of the last group, so I didn't really have anyone to chase except when I fucked up a remount. Riding the back field was the worst part just because there weren't any spectators around to yell at me, not even at the barriers.
