The War on Cars. Discuss
Where: Liberty Bar, 517 15th Ave. E. Capitol Hill
When: Tuesday, February 1 at 7:00 PM
Join PubliCola and a crew of policy wonks from both the left and right, including the Cascade Bicycle Club’s David Hiller and the Washington Policy Center’s Micahel Ennis for a discussion about cars, parking, bikes, and social engineering! Here’s some reading material. Moderated by C.R. Douglas and Erica C. Barnett.
And yes, I know it conflicts with the Tuesday ride. Perhaps that crew could swing by Liberty Bar?

Remember when Erica C. Barnett claimed that evil fixed-gear bikes killed Bryce Lewis?
"Finding out exactly what happened the afternoon of September 7 is close to impossible. One thing, however, is certain: Lewis was riding a fixed-gear bike, an increasingly popular but notoriously dangerous style of bicycle. Fixed-gear bikes, or "fixies," are extremely difficult to slow down on steep hills—like the one you take from Capitol Hill to Eastlake Avenue and the University Bridge."

It was September of 2007, IIRC. That was right around the time I moved here.
Fun like this comment thread or this one? The event will serve as proof that .83 isn't the only group of individuals that can engage in dickbaggery at a bar.
Why not hang out with the douches you know on the normal Tuesday ride?

Would this "discussion" even work out anything? Or is it just going to be a turd tossing contest that exacerbates the already unspoken "war" between each side? Especially with a name like "War on Cars."

I suggest we show up at the lost possible minute and see if we can get David Hiller to ride with us a few miles and then buy us some drinks.
