I don't want a suit, but could I have your address so I could come by some other time?

Congratulations on identifying the fastest method to get added to my address blacklist. Technically, I had the create the blacklist and then add you to it. Really, the list is just you. It says "Address Blacklist: Joby."
But it's on the fridge, so, you know. Official.

By the way Jmsg, thank you for hosting at your house for the suit fittings. And naturally I totally forgot about picking up that calendar from you when I was there.

if they're going to fly you around the world to hawk beskpoked suits, you damn well better be able to nail the upsell.

Hey, remember this? The same guy from Bangkok is making another tour of the US, and he asked me if I would ask around to see if anybody was interested in an appointment.
There were more people who expressed interest last time than ended up showing up. Perhaps this is the year for you! If so, let me know and I'll help make the connection.

He's in town on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Feb. He said he can be flexible but his preference is for the 9th.

What was the cost for jacket and pants?
If memory serves, it was $200 for jacket and pants. However, I ended up spending closer to $500 because the guy is a master at the upsell, I'm a bitch, and I did legitimately see needing two custom tailored shirts and a spare pair of pants as a good idea.

Folks who got suits and shirts last time, expectations met and you all are looking dapper? Any pics of the suits? A+++ would buy again?

Expectations definitely met. All two times I wore it, it felt AMAZING, and looked way cooler than the shitty $99 pants I bought 8 years ago at KG Menswear.
Anyone want to buy a "vintage" early 2000s suit?
Oh, and they guy doesn't pull punches. Apparently, I have a fat ass.

I've asked for a reminder on the approximate cost of various items. The prices are variable, though, depending on what and how much you buy. (You can haggle a bit, but be warned: these guys didn't send Mr. Sonny on a cross continental tour because he can't seal the deal.)
I am overall pleased with my purchase, which was substantial. (1 jacket, two pants, six shirts.) The fabric and design was all high quality, and the shirts and pants fit well. I didn't necessarily do the best job picking out shirt fabric but that's not their fault. My only complaint was that my jacket (which, again, is badass) was visibly too big. They made these half-hearted offers to fix it if I mailed it back to them, but that seemed like too much work/cost.
That being said, out of the half-dozen or so people who got clothing I'm the only one I'm aware of who had any issue at all. And even given my jacket problem, its still a pretty good deal because I can get that fixed locally pretty inexpensively.

I too would endorse Excelsior Tailors for their suitmaking. I also bit on the jacket, 2x pants & shirts for $450 deal. If you shop for mens suits at retail, a nice complete jacket shirt pants kit is going to cost you similar. They fit perfectly (better after I lost a little weight) and I've had nothing but glowing compliments on it since. ++ would buy again but now I'm poor so I can't

A set of 6 shirts is about $350. (You can order fewer, but again, they're going for the upsell.)
A suit (jacket and pants) starts around $300 depending on the fabric you select.
That should give you a rough idea of the base prices, but it's kind of fluid.
He said that you guys could go to his hotel room, so unless someone volunteers to host that's the best plan. If nobody steps up to host/organize in the next day or so, I'll just give you all this guy's email address and you can work it out with him individually. It would probably be less of a pain to organize a group time, though.

Okay! Nobody wants to host, but you can still meet with Sonny at his hotel.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, you need to contact Sonny (the tailor's name) directly. His address: excelsiorfashion@gmail.com
If you could, please tell him that you got his contact info from me. (I'm not getting anything out of it, I just want to help him make the connection as to where these requests are coming from.)

Email sent asking for Monday / Tues / Wed of next week after 7pm.
Details to follow.
If there's enough interest and times don't work out for everyone would be open to doing a second fitting too.

Okay he's only in town for two days - Thursday the 9th and his flight leaves the following day (10th) at 830pm.
We're doing this at my house on Thursday the 9th at 7pm. If Thursday night is bad then you can meet him in his hotel room Friday morning.
This obviously conflicts with the ride but since I am a slave to fashion, I will remain at my post and play host. If it doesn't drag too far into the evening will rally the attending members to play catch up for those interested.
---
Update 2: He can measure 3 people an hour so those more serious about this will take precedence over those on the fence. If there's a lot of interest we'll back this up to 6:30.

I've got nothing on the calendar that night, will be there.
If it's not too late I'd like to add my name to the totally serious list. I only have one suit right now and while I don't wear them often it's nice to have options.
I'll plan on going to Scott's Feb 9th around 6:30pm.
