Skin is plenty thick, no beef here.
Still in my 12 months of bicycle riding grace period for dumb questions, no?

Trying to find a bicycle? I just found this helpful website on the matter. o_O
While the site is hideous, it's pretty informative thus far. Thanks!

Salt, if you're serious about learning how to do your own wrenching--especially on an older bike like an RB-1--head over to Sheldon Brown's site and read every goddamn page. I'd bet a lot of folks on this forum built their first bike using his advice. Not the best for newer styles, but it's a goldmine for beginning wrenchers.

Thanks, I spent a good chunk of yesterday reading through the beginner, commuting, diy, and repair tips sections while sick in bed. Will dive deeper when time allows.
My first large wrenching project is to mullet my '07 khs, have the parts, just need the shop time.

think I still have these Clement LAS tires in one of my parts bins. they're fatter than the labeled 33mm width, more like 35s.
hoping to go a bit wider than that but is the Barlow Pass still around? That would be a perfect front tire for what I've got planned

yes, that Barlow Pass is sitting in a box under my kitchen table. I'll bring it to next week's ride.
I think Torrey has some GravelKings out there that I dibs-ed and then we never worked out a plan to meet up or saw each other again after that.

WTB: Shimano XT 10 sp rear hub, 6 bolt disc, 32h, 135mm, QR. FH-M756A is the one I know. Or a built rear wheel with 650b ~25mm internal width tubeless compatible rims.
Also would buy a front wheel w/ dyno and same rim/spoke spec if available.

I'll just keep posting things and maybe someone will want to sell me something fancy.
WTB
1) revelate terrapin or similar butt rocket bag
2) small/medium frame bag, full or partial for small-medium bike w/ 19-19.5" HT-ST opening
3) front lowrider/lowrider + platform rack that'll clear 27.5 x 2.1" tires. mid-fork braze-ons available

WTB a cheapish trailer with which to haul my musical instruments and the occasional bag of compost. Ugly but functional Burly would be great, something more fancy would also be great.
I'm willing to spend up to $125, but would really prefer something cheaper.

Yup, when i was looking last year that was the only option. Aluminum steerer and crown, iirc, so not crazy light. I *think* they were switching over to 1.25†but worth an email?

without going full retrogrouch, i would suggest giving the drawbacks of a carbon steerer-er'd fork a good think before purchase given our flavor of hijinx.
edit why is everythink a ling

I edited my original post to close the link, but since you quoted me there still open links. I'll throw down a few extras to see if that'll fix it
edit: sorry, I'm not good at internets.

The fork isn't for me, it's for the missus, so it probably wont get beat too bad. Carbon w/ alu still weighs a half a pound less than a comparable crmo fork. Also carbon forks are fiiiiiine
Could be worse. (I looked for the gif of the mavic kevlar/carbon spoke disintegrating mid race but couldnt find it. :( )

I need a 27.5/650b rear mtb wheel. Something with swappable endcaps for 135x9mm QR / 142x12mm TA would be ideal but just 135x9mm QR would also work. I have a Deore 142x12mm TA I can offer as a trade if'n you're interested.
Monstercross here I come!!

Anyone know where I can score a silver Shutter Precision PL-8, 32h?
Aka the center-lock version.
If you have a PD-8 (the six-bolt mount one), 32h, in silver, I'm also interested for a different project, but my primary project needs a PL-8.
