big fan of for gravel. they're a bit on the heavy side, but I have a pair that has over 2 1/2 years of use and has only flatted once. worked great on Ben Country, the Rickreall Gravel Classic, Dalles Mountain 60, several loaded tours, numerous Thursday rides...

(yeah, I should probably replace those now)

just got an update to share: due to overwhelming response, registration for this closes tonight.

you'll want to be on their list to get updates regarding logistics, hotel rooms, train reservations, etc.

there's no fee to register: if you're still on the fence about this one - sign up anyway. if you end up 'yes but no', there's no penalty for doing so.

if they re-open the official registration list, I'll let you know. of course, if you just happen to show up in Klamath Falls on May 23rd, it's a safe bet that no one's going to stop you from riding it.

I missed that too, prob cause yesterday was all ZOMG HWKS! If there are enough of us not registered, couldn't we stagger the start date a day or so.

Or you could ride on my shake down tour that same weekend. No panic over running out of water, and you don't have to pirate it. Plus, it will be one of your last chances to ride with me before I move.

Of course, if you're registered for this Outback ride, you should do it because it sounds unbelievably rad.

Just looking at tickets for March 22nd since they suggested taking a train directly from Seattle to K-falls.
Appears the only train is "11 Coast Starlight" which doesn't seem to have bike hooks?
Is everyone on this ride going to do bike boxes? I'd imagine this might end up being a crap-ton of cardboard at the start

I am tentatively in for the Jessica and company week-early departure. How long are you planning to take? A full week? It sounds more like a 5 or 6 day trip based on the Velodirt trip report saying "very leisurely days" to get seven full days of riding.

I'll be leaving Seattle for the foreseeable future shortly after that trip. My plan was to leave Seattle for Astoria and the Transamerica route on 1 June. So I'd like to be back in town by Memorial Day weekend.

Lastly, for every one who is riding this (either on the Jessica schedule or the Velodirt race), would you be interested in a series of f'n mtb S24Os before so we can shakedown and get used to touring on fat tires?
