1 hour late!
thanksgiving ride always meets at 8pm, leaves at 8:30, to give people more time to finish family events.

back history: the ride was an early brain child of dean and theresa (both no longer ride as they moved), they were not from here and wanted to start a ride regularly to see the city and meet new people. there were a bunch of us on the first ride that mostly met via critical mass, some that you still see now and again (me, colin, etc) and several that haven't been around for quite some time. it took a while to pick the name and settle on thursday nights, but since we have there hasn't been a night missed in 10 years. amazing.

bring someone new or reconnect with someone from early rides. for better or worse we've all had a part in making a great community from nothing. a community that i've seen help people in all manor of ways, give new folks a huge circle of friends, help out when you're down, see new parts of the city and state, sing with you, pick you up, put you down, and be a mess and a problem and a positive influence all at the same time.

i hope you all come out. meet someone new, ride somewhere, and enjoy our town and our friends while out riding bikes.

one note, if someone shows up you had beef with in the past, that beef doesn't count on this night and I want you to be the bigger adult and live and let live this one time.

pro-tip : If local-ish, convince your family to do Thanksgiving on Friday night. I have this and my dad has a radio show on Thursday nights, so we've finally just given up with trying to do dinner at 3:30pm like some sort of heathens.

i've always managed to do the early thanksgiving family dinner then head out for the bike ride. 8pm start makes a good 5+ hours between eating and riding

i gotta find some blackberry schnapps. that's what we had on the first ride.

Also, I found many more pictures of turkeys riding bicycles than I ever thought should exist, especially because I'm pretty sure turkey's knees go the wrong way to ride bikes.
