Volkscycle?

by seaden » Sun Jan 15, 2006 1:35 am

I put this in gears but my friend is selling it tomorrow to me for $60...should I get it?????

I might have access to this frame if I can get my friend to sell it to me...but anyone know specs of these frames? I think it is british(someone at bikeforums said it was made in japan)...but how are seat post & stem sizing and bb problems?? it's got cottered cranks..would it be easy to convert to cotterless? I think I'm gonna need a new bb and axle? I just don't want to get it if it will end up being a big headache.

If it runs, it's worth $60.
If anything, you can part it out and sell each random part and get back at least half of what you dropped and use the frame for something. It's got a nice color. I like the black lining on the joints.
if anything, you can tune it up a bit and sell it for over $100 on craig's list, those people can be suckers.

I am planning to make it my spare fixie bike just in case I wake up and am late to work and look at my regular ride and find a flat with no time to fix it and get to work on time...

I like the frame too....I'm going to go check it out today and see if and how much rust are on the chrome...taking with me some rubbing compound to see if any of it is fixable...other than that this frame will come out sweet...

...I'll probably bring it to the wrench party and yank off the cottered cranks and ask aaron for help on putting in a new bb...unless I can find instruction via web....I love fixing stuff...yay!!! project time!
