I passed a lady who was riding with traffic (cars were slow) even though there was a bike lane. car lanes were clear, bike lane had snow... blew by her. Then i heard her crash. Felt bad.

I took it a little slower than usual, but things weren't really too slippery. The worst part was the cold... my fingers weren't very happy by the end of the ride.

Things were pretty interesting car-wise where 10th hits Roanoke (where 10th goes over 520, right by the I-5 onramp). There appeared to be a car stalled at the bottom of the hill, and police were directing traffic. Cars were moving VERY slowly up the hill (many of them spinning out), and downhill traffic seemed to be blocked entirely. For cars anyway. Mwah hah hah.

The U-bridge was pretty snowy. Not really too hard to navigate, but I wasn't really thrilled about all the snow being tossed up the bottoms of my pant-legs.

Drinking one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had at the moment.

That walk from the bedroom to the kitchen was pretty chilly and my jammies are all static clingy, but now the heats on so things are good.

Down Jackson to the bus was interesting, but not too scary. 2.25" tires on the Hunqapiller inspire confidence!

This is my first time riding in snow, and it was interesting although entirely less dangerous than I'd guessed. Dexter was non-lethal, and the BGT was pretty empty so I was free to go at my own pace.

Something interesting I'd never had to think about: I toss my bike on the front of the bus for the trip across 520, and when I pulled it off my shifter/brake cables had frozen in place. I'm currently letting the bike dethaw in my office while I try to crank out some work and plan an early escape.

My commute was entirely un-remarkable. However i was a bit disappointed to learn that only two of 6 people on my team came to work today (myself included).

I'm in downtown Bellevue, Derrick. I'd love to meet you guys for lunch, but I need a bit of notice. Unfortunately, work's been pretty "go go go" recently and I've been eating at my desk frequently.

woke up to lots of snow out my window. decided to put the fixie into hibernation and fired up the LHT. greenwood = snowy and lots of freaked out drivers. fine over phinney ridge. laughed at bus commuters waiting for the 48 and the 66. hit a patch of snow in the bike lane right before the university bridge and took a spill. minimal damage.

Riding in the snow was a blast! The sidewalks with a nice crust on them, were my friend. The roads on the eastside were a sheet of black ice! I stopped for a safety break at a buds garage in Medina, and caught a bus over.

Rode through interlaken in blizzard like conditions. All the trees were knocking together and there was a huge one that had falllen over, thus blocking the road. Muh hanz were cold and I came home for grilled cheese, hot chocolate with Rumple Minz, a redhead, and a Gnome Stove.


I watched the North Face last night and all of this is nothing. Those dudes biked from Germany to the Eiger (with climbing gear) then climbed up and got caught in a snowstorm part way. They all died. I went to work and back, which may seem inconsequential, but then again, maybe my job is more dangerous:

And a pointer from Lucia... I've been hearing a lot about "tractor pulls" these days. But what about what I'd like to dub "snow pulls" where there's a bit of a penalty for not making a full pull?
