Anyone with any opinions about platform pedals rather than clipless?

If you're gonna do the STP on a tallbike, you might as well squid out and get pink shoe covers for your look shoes.

Platforms will make your pedalling less efficient which means you will be more tired at the end of the day.
If you are worried about not being able to unclip, try using Frogs.
Seriously, how often do you have problems unclipping from your pedals? You probably do it enough now that it's second nature to you.

Yeah, but I think it would be different when I'm all up in the air like that.
The problem with my current shoes and pedals, Denny, is that they are all plastic on the bottom. You know how hard it would be to climb up that thing in plastic shoes? haha

ill be on those rides come january regularly (and ill be dragging along the upset and cranky girlfriend)
there is a great training schedule on the cascade site, we can use that to start ramping up miles. last year we were ahead of the mileage schedule all the time. but it's a good way to judge if you're on track.
