Oh, gawd: I actually got tired of heckling, this sucked so bad.
Someone decided to ruin an eighties pop-movie by replacing the audio track and having two guys play evocative DJ sets. How do you ruin eighties pop cultural standards, the bar is already set pretty low?
Actors' vocal tracks? Not needed: we can do most of the movie in subtitles with the occasional segments tossed in to show we didn't simply discard the original soundtrack and a poorly replace it. When we do deign to toss in vocal audio, we can "art" it up by providing echo effects expressing to the plebeian horde which statements carry actual meaning.
BRILLIANT!

I liked it when the old man shook his fist and yelled at the band to turn it down.

The opening band berating the audience for not liking them was a nice touch.

I actually really really loved it. But, I guess this sort of art medium is my kinda bag. I was actually pleasantly surprised and only slightly bummed more people didn't like it, but I guess everyone is entitled to their own preferences.
I would say their major mistake was not putting their edited/rewritten subtitled on top edge of the screen since everyone's head in the audience was completely blocking the bottom half of the screen....oopsie.
I really loved the fact that they did everything in real-time, with vinyl and effects. I definitely think alot of the awkwardness and people leaving early could've been avoided by advertising the video presentation as 80% remixed media art and 20% original content, warning them that their beloved movie was likely going to be slaughtered/supplemented.
I'm not a big fan of remixed music but for some reason I absolutely love when people take a film, add music to it or modify/edit it in some way that changes the original intent of all the pieces involved. This may have roots in my love for Video Ephemera groups like "Everything Is Terrible", "Found Footage Festival" & "TV Carnage'.
I can definitely understand why this wasn't for everyone and didn't blame anyone for leaving, though I was a little annoyed with the heckling considering the entire presentation was FREE and likely easily available on Netflix or streaming online for free.
Also, by moving our seating to the steeper hill in the back of the crowd we were able to read the modified subtitles much better.
Also, let's be honest, most of the dialogue in that movie (and 99% of hollywood movies) is dumb as hell. Plot doesn't drive movies like this, the action scenes do....and by adding great music to those scenes it really spiced it up. I couldn't help being reminded of Interstella 5555 the entire time, which, like Quicksilver, doesn't really need much dialogue to progress the plot. Actions, body language and the remixed music score tell you everything you need to know
Thanks Rogelio for letting us know about this!

Now's good. Before would have been better, but before is over.
