My lady friend has a bicycle, but it sucks. I need to get her a new one but need to figure out her size first. I'm GUESSING she's around a 52cm.

I could go get a professional sizing but that sounds expensive. Seems easier to just try some bikes out. Would someone have a 52cm bike I could borrow for a simple test ride some weekend?

Spoiler alert: I may be asking for help with bicycles in nearby sizes after that ride. :)

if it ends up going smaller, I have a 48cm bike. the mixte is 50, and you could throw some bullhorns on there for feel.

There are stores that carry lots of bicycles in lots of sizes and are more than happy to let you ride them. They're called bike shops and you can find good ones <a href="http://www.recycledcycles.com/">here</a> and <a href="http://www.freerangecycles.com/">here</a>.

I think your best bet for bike shop harassment is going to R+E, Beau and Johnny are grade A smart asses that I'm sure would readily provide some clever harassment.

go to greg's find out which size/kind of bike you want. not saying you have to get it there.

they have by far the best inventory around.

Are there any shops that just let one dink around with one of those fitting bikes without the cost of the "pro tips", esp those with a working drivetrain of somewhat realistic resistance?
