Sure, you pirate the Chilly Hilly, but any up for StP?

We don't pirate the chilly hilly. We hold an unrelated race on the same island at the same time.

I've had an unrelated ride to Portland on the same weekend as the Stp, and I have to say I'll not do that again. The stp is a total mess. It is nice in that theres lots of places to camp only on that weekend, and a lot of roadside stops etc but the ride itself is hot, boring, and sketchy with all the dentist bikes swerving all over

With some recent news, I'm thinking of riding down there in a few months at most. This time, with the odds of like 2/365, I probably won't be riding with Cascade.

we used to pirate the stp too. it was loosely called the LFR (long fucking ride). we had race bibs and a support car when i did it
i bonked. portland is rough to get to in one day. i collapsed with a bottle of cheeze whiz in a park then slept for about 18 hours

I think I missed the window to do STP legit or as a pirate ride in my riding career. There are too many more fun ways to be outside or on a bike during that time it seems and the mega newb crowds like people have mentioned is a draw back.
I think I'd be breaking 260 miles into 3 days riding but this seems like the way to go if you have the time.

that's an even better idea. with a light camping load I did 120 miles the first day and was home by 1 the second day the last time I pirated it. if there's a good camping spot anywhere near halfway and a sag wagon, it would be super easy to break it into two and do two 200km days.
should we develop a plan?
