Hey everyone, our dear friend Christian (some of you know him as the guy who installed the fuck yeah Tarp at the last Ben Country) was in a relatively serious bike accident this afternoon (Thurs, 2/23) near North Seattle Community College. He's been unconscious since the accident, and is in stable condition at the ICU in Harborview.
Since he's been unconscious, (it's not suspected there was a vehicle involved). If you happen to know anything, or feel like spreading the word to anyone who might have been in the neighborhood, the help is much appreciated.

I was just coming here to post the same thing. Really tragic, and I hope everyone there is holding up okay.
Here's to hoping they find some witnesses.

I am at HMC today, I don't really know if I can be of help but let me know if someone just needs a cup of coffee or a walk or a hug. I don't really know them that well either but I am happy to help if I can

*bump*
Hey were you guys at Ben "pouring rain" Country? Then you remember who Christian is. He was the foreman of the tarp over the bridge construction/rigging, and the guy that made the covered bucket toilet outhouse setup too.
Yeah, dude was awesome, right? No one even asked him to or even expected anyone at all to bring all that stuff. He just lugged extra gear and made camp awesome, like a boss.
So I'm sad this happened to such a nice guy. But also I want to call to attention this awful seemingly trend of cyclist hit-n-runs: on April 12th 2011, Mike Wang July 29th 11, Oct 17th 2011, Christian Rusby Feb 23rd 2012. At least if the driver stops and reports it immediately the victim has a better chance of survival. Whomever killed didn't even face charges, so what's the harm in stopping and reporting it?
I'd love to see a radio campaign from the Washington State Patrol about hit and runs, like those DUI ads. "We are out here. We will run checkpoints. We will catch you. You will face more jail time, etc."
