it's gonna be a good one.
shit yeah.
NOTE THE CHANGE OF MEETUP TIME
we'll be riding out, camping that night and riding back the next day.
the ferry fare is ~$8.
it's surprisingly rad, and shouldn't be to difficult. about 46 miles with as few hills as possible. the biggest hill is ~700 ft of climbing.
there is about 3miles of pretty hard packed gravel with a bit of small stone.
25-28mm tires will do if you're careful.
there is a bit of highway shoulder, so do ride like an ass.
the campground is an old group camp named rainbow located just off of highway 101, but miles from anything else. it was abandoned 2 years ago because they don't have the funds to maintain it. since it was closed i wasn't able to reserve it and so we'll be rolling under the radar, ie. no bonfires in the middle of the road.
the facilities are very primitive. no running water, and the pit toilets are nailed shut. the nearest water access is a .5 mile hike down to a huge waterfall. I'll have a car bring some extra water, and i'll bring my filter for pumping.
the camp is right off of 101, so be as inconspicuous as possible.
pack light for god sakes, we're only going out for one night.
and we prolly don't need 7 hatchets and 6 fuck yeah saws.
post to the thread if you you're gonna drive out.
take the first right after the campground (forest road 2767 "Buck Hill Rd") and park in the first turnout after the clearing. there is a path that leads right back to the campground.
post to the thread if you you're gonna drive out.
if you drive out you have to bring extra beer.
the last stop for beer, liquor, food, salvation is in quilcene (5 miles from camp)
wait to buy your beer and liquor there.
FYI the grocery store is a glorified 711, so don't expect much.
the menu is a straight up paseo knock off.
pulled pork. (in your face pig)
black beans. (mostly veggie - just a bit of chicken broth)
slaw. (Veggie)
tortillas.
let me know if you're coming so i can estimate the food.
