Books on Wrenching.
The few things my Texan baby brother and I have in common are our passions for doing things ourselves, and for riding bikes. He's an MTBer, whereas I avoid single-track like the syph.
The one thing he doesn't really know is how to fix his bike, despite years of bike-oriented summer camp--apparently the only thing they teach them is how to pedal and how to change a flat.
He's a smart kid, used to take apart doorknobs and put them back together as a wee tot, so I imagine he can figure lots of things out, but there are at least a few things I know he needs help with like derailleur adjustment and the weird hydraulic bits.
I have a copy of Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance that I am dog-earing as I learn and like pretty well, but what would you recommend for a baby MTBer, other than a road bike and a multi-tool?
