I should clarify, he doesn't have the handbike yet, if I can find him a good route then he will go get a handbike and use it for a commute, but a handbike is pretty expensive to just use on the weekends. I'll find out the width of what he is looking at.
I looked at the Ballard Bridge a bit this morning and in 15 minutes I saw 4 cyclists heading northbound on the west side. Since the west side is the only direction I can see taking without mixing it up with serious traffic, the head-on cycling traffic on the bridge makes me think it isn't a good option.
He is pretty damn amazing though...he pushed his wheelchair most of the way straight up 4th Ave N. southbound (that street you see pretty much straight ahead as you cross the Fremont Bridge that heads straight up the hill) and he paddles his kayak every day for a few hours and enters into kayak races so he has some pretty incredible upper body strength.
