The hubbub method of running the shift cable to the derailleur mounting point is <a href="http://www.hubbub.com/articles_ergopower.html">presented here</a> for your education and elucidation.
I'm running Campagnolo Ergo 10 shifters on the front, and a Shimano Sora derailleur on the rear and it shifts very nicely.
Of course, you can always throw money at the problem with the <a href="http://www.jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm">JTek Shiftmate</a>.
